Tam stared out the window during detention. It didn't matter he was going to get in even more trouble, just that he was NOT going to ballroom dance. Uh uh. No thank you.

"SONG!" barked Lady Belva. "Get up and use Macie as your partner."

Tam groaned. Macie was this girl who was chasing after him since forever, despite his constant attempts to give her the hint and that one time Linh actually spelled out the words for her. Macie squealed and grabbed Tam's arms, trying to swirl him around.

"How many times do I have to tell you, I like-"

Macie cut him off. "Biana Vacker? She's sooo overrated. I'm much better, try hanging out with me instead!"

Now this was just getting plain annoying. Biana was like the best person ever. She was so brave and optimistic and was never afraid of standing up to people. She was a lot more than just a pretty face. Linh had convinced Tam to ask her out, but by the time Tam had got there, someone had beat him to it. One of the popular jocks.

"I'M NOT DAMN BALLROOM DANCING WITH YOU!" Tam blurted out the second the door opened. Macie gave a small gasp but nobody actually looked at them. They were all glued towards the door, because Biana Vacker had just walked in.

"Hello Lady Belva, I'm sorry, but Elwin requires Tam at his office. We need to help out a patient of his."

Lady Belva looked faintly annoyed, but nodded. "It is fine, Miss Vacker, I suppose Mr. Song will have to finish his detention later."

Biana nodded and stepped forward, but stopped.

She spotted Macie gripping Tam's arms and her eyes narrowed. "Oh, I'm sorry, am I interrupting something?" she said smoothly.

"Oh, no," replied Macie just as smoothly, but couldn't keep the anger out of her voice. "I would rather you not take my dance partner and boyfriend."

Biana's eyes widened for a second, then she beamed. "I would believe that if Tam's standards didn't stoop as low as to people like you. Now come on Tammy."

Feeling rather dizzy, Tam shoved Macie off and followed Biana into the hall. At first, she didn't say anything, just footsteps leading towards Elwin's office. Then Tam said, "I'm sorry."

She stopped. "For what?"

"Macie. She isn't my girlfriend."

Biana laughed. "I know. Linh is my best friend after all. She told me about you getting tormented. The great TamTam, can't stand up to people."

Tam flushed. He appreciated the non-use of his last name. "Well I mean, I was rather worried about if you would get mad and all."

"And what makes you think I would care."

Tam's face fell. Of course she didn't like him that way. "I-I mean, you wouldn't care about that because you already have a boyfriend, don't you?"

Biana frowned. "Oh, him. I broke up with him. He was just using me for the popularity. Being a Vacker and all."

"People like that don't deserve you. You're strong, smart and brave. people need to see past your looks. Not that you're not pretty," he added panickily, "I think you're really-"

But she just reached over and grabbed his shoulders. Funnily, it didn't matter when Biana did it. It actually felt kind of nice. Then she gently kissed him on the cheek. "Thank you Tam. Now I think we're overdue at Elwin's. Let's go."

Tam couldn't feel his face anymore. It was probably too red.

They both walked in at the same time, to hear a loud hoot and a squeal. Linh and Keefe were standing there excitedly. "EEEEEEEK!" squealed Linh again. Keefe wolf whistled.

"Bangs-Boy got himself a girlfriend. We heard everything," he added. "We also saw the last part." he wiggled his brows. "For the record, you'd better not hurt my honorary sister."

Linh giggled. "Yesss my baby brother is all grown up!"

"Ugh. We're twins."

"I was born 4.32 minutes before you," Linh said smugly.

Biana was profusely blushing. Wait a second...

The door flew open and Macie rushed in. "Elwin, I think I spilled something on me and it's burning!" She had a vat of something in her hands, which she promptly tipped towards Biana. "Oops!"

Tam intercepted her just in time, getting soaked in something disgusting. "Oh no! I'm sorry Tam. Maybe I can help you clean it off."

Keefe was watching this with the utmost incomprehension, while Linh looked like she wanted to punch Macie in the face. But Biana came to the rescue.

"Listen here Macie. Take the hint. He. Doesn't. Like. You. Stop bothering my boyfriend."

Macie rolled her eyes. "Oh please, he's hardly your boyfriend. He just has a hopeless crush on you."

Biana gripped the front of Tam's shirt and pulled him into a rough kiss. Tam gently wrapped his arms around her neck. When they finally pulled apart, Biana turned back to Macie.

"Fuck. Off."

Macie ran off in tears. Biana turned back to Tam, turning crimson. "That didn't mean anything by the way. I just did it to get rid of her. Bye for now!"

She took her exit. Linh grinned. "You look like a mutant tomato. Also, that totally meant something."

Keefe suddenly spoke up. "WAIT A SECOND. ISN'T THAT JO MITCHELL FROM MEAN GIRLS 2?"

Linh broke into laughter. Over her snickering, Tam thought back to Biana. Linh was right, it did mean something. And even if it didn't, Biana had been nervous, hadn't she? It was definitely progress.
