A muffled scream awoke Tam from his sleep. He rubbed his eyes and groaned, trying to roll to one side. He shot up with a gasp of his own when his feet promptly tangled in some sort of cloth, trapping him in some sort of fluffy cocoon.
With a sigh of relief, he realized he'd been lying in a sleeping bag, which was resting on the floors of Everglen. There had been a sleepover the night before, which would explain the familiar scream.
Oh shit, the scream. Tam smirked to himself, knowing exactly who- and why- it was coming from. Just as he thought of it again, another one, this time more violent, echoed through the house. Wincing, he checked the time, surprised that no one had heard and left to go investigate. That, or they didn't care. This option was more likely- Keefe was such a drama queen. Tam had expected his genius plans to roll out the next morning, not at 4 AM in the morning.
He disentangled himself from the sleeping bag, still grinning evilly to himself. The night before, Keefe had made a fool of him during Truth or Dare. As payback, he'd slipped a couple of Dex's vials of potion-y magic into the other boy's lushberry juice.
Tam had never appreciated Dex's talents more- thanks to his potions, Tam already had a few more tricks up his sleeve, and they rested safely in the pockets of his tunic and pants. For now, he tiptoed as fast as he could towards the sound of the screams, which were coming from Biana's freakishly big bathroom. Seriously, what did she even do in there?
And yep- just as he'd expected, Keefe was gazing into the flashy mirror, a look of horror in his eyes at the newly appeared bright pink twists in his already obnoxious hair. Tam's eyes flickered down, but couldn't see his mouth; it was covered with a towel. Keefe screamed into the towel again, muffling the noise.
"Keefe-"
The blonde dropped the towel, his eyes flashing to Tam. He opened his mouth wide again, undoubtedly to scream, but Tam had had enough. He picked up another fluffy towel and lobbed it at Keefe's head. That sure snapped him out of it, and he shut his mouth, crossing his arms.
All at once, he blurted out, "Bangs Boy, what the hell did you do? You dyed my hair- AND IT'S PINK. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? THE HORROR!" His voice rose dramatically.
Tam stopped him, lifting a bar of soap menacingly. "If you don't shut up now, I'll throw this at your pretty head next," he threatened. "And for the sake of Councillor Bronte's underpants, we're all trying to sleep!"
He looked appalled. "You dyed my hair PINK. DO YOU REALIZE-"
"I heard you the first time, genius," Tam snapped. "Plus, you can't blame me! I couldn't resist not testing out all the new solutions Dex made."
Keefe positively gasped. "Then I'm coming after you both! It's the end for you, Tammy Boy Song and Dexter Alvin Dizznee!" Then, he shook his fist at Tam, mock- glaring up at him.
Despite his growing fear that Keefe was going to put a gulon his sleeping bag, Tam couldn't help his lips from quirking up at the gesture. The outrageous fist-shaking was actually kind of cute. Tam found it endearing, which was unlike him. He reached up and tugged on his bangs.
"Do what you want to Dex, but you'll have to catch me first," he said.
The other boy raised his eyebrows. "Ookay, so I'm just going to ignore how you just totally betrayed my boy Dex, but was that a challenge, Bangs Boy?"
Tam quickly formulated a plan, knowing the shadows were at his advantage at night. "Maybe it is, Mophead," he said, promptly blending himself into the darkness.
