"Why do you like the rain so much? It's a bit depressing in my opinion." He asked me adding in his opinion that was a bit different than mine.
"It show cases the darkness in way I'm unable to." I responded admiring the rains beauty. "It shows the beauty of the darkness. It shows how the darkness isn't as scary as it's made out to be, how magnificent it can be."
I stared out the window as Oliver drilled wholes in the side of my face. "Is that why you don't get help?" He asked me with pain hunting into his words.
I turned to him and looked into his eyes looking for emotion. He looked more in pain and hurt than curious.
I nodded slowly looking back out my window watching the rain fall gracefully in front of me. "What you, London, Dermot, and everyone else don't understand is the darkness isn't scary. It isn't what causes me the pain." I explained to him my voice calm.
"What causes you the pain?" He asked me gently with a look of compassion. I continued to not look into his eyes as a tear fell from my eye.
"The past, the memories, all the things I've done. I'm a monster. I know my reality clearly. The darkness is where a monster belongs. The reality, to answer your question, is what's causing me the pain." My voice was stern, it came across as almost angry. The truth is I am. I'm more heartbroken than angry.
"I don't understand your fetish with the darkness. I've been there and it's not pretty." He added his voice not as strong as before.
"I don't expect you to understand. Like London, your more innocent, despite what you think. Normal people, Oliver, don't know how beautiful the darkness really is. You can't have light without darkness. That's why things are never perfect you see. That's why Thomas and I should've lasted. He was the light and I was the darkness." I finished with a tear stained face with another few still falling.
"But that's exactly why you and Thomas couldn't of lasted." He informed me. I looked at him curious and my eyebrows knitted together. With a small smile he continued, "Thomas tried to be your sun. He wanted to erase the darkness and bring you to the other side. I want to be the moon that lights your world in the darkest hour. I want to be the one that saves you, not destroys you." his voice was soft as he calmed his mission.
He leaned in close to me our noses barely touching. He closed his eyes and I closed mine as we kissed slowly, but in perfect sync. How he showed so much love and compassion in one small kiss I'll never know.
He looked back and me and smiled lightly. I returned with a small smile. He gently wiped away a tear from my face.
"Thank you." I said quietly with sincerity in my voice. Another tear was forming, but Oliver wiped it away.
He looked at me confused about my words. "For what?" He asked in the same dumb tone he usually had when he asked a question.
"For staying when I thought you'd be running for the hills. I'm not the easiest to deal with." I explained to him truthfully.
"No you are not." He shook his head laughing a little bit. I punched his shoulder playfully. "um, ow!" He acted fake hurt making me laugh.
I was about to walk out the door when he grabbed me and pulled me back and onto the bed. He got on top of me and started tickling me. And there he discovered my deepest secret, I'm ticklish.
"Oliver, get off of me!" I demanded in between my giggles. He didn't listen continuing to tickle me. I found the strength to flip him off over on his back. I was sitting on top of him staring down at him laughing my face blood red. My cheeks were hurting.
He stared at me with stars in his eyes. That's one of the reasons I liked him so much, the light in his eyes. There was innocence, light, things I could never have. He was something I wish I could be.
I slapped his chest and got off of him walking out the door. I stopped at the doorway looking back at him playfully. He jumped off the bed running after me. I ran down the stairs with Oliver not too far behind.
He followed me into London's office. I was up against her desk with a shocked London. He walked into the office with mischievous eyes. He walked to me and I twisted his arm. He spun me around and pinned me on the ground trying to tickle me again. Somehow I flipped him over pinning him down. We laughed at our childishness.
London sat at her desk stealing down at us confused. We both looked at her bursting into laughter at her reaction.
"So, I see you guys are getting along." She observed shaking her head with a small smile. I giggled and he smirked.
