Not editedAfter a day of meetings, I could tell Oliver was exhausted. Can't say I didn't feel the same. I was in my bathroom taking a bath and Oliver finally let go and went to his room to get cleaned up. It was around midnight when I laid down in bed and turned on my television to watch a movie. I didn't know what it was but it seemed like some thriller.
Oliver walked in and sat next to me on my bed. "What cha watching?" He asked looking at me.
"I don't know." I responded simply. He just looked at me with confusion and asked "How do you not know what your watching?"
"I just turned the tv on and it was playing."
"Well I have a surprise for you." He said with a grin.
Kinda random...
"I hate surprises." I said lowly. I never liked surprises. They always seemed to go south or they were stupid or just plain useless.
"How come that doesn't surprise me?" He said cockily.
"Haha whatever just tell me what it is."
"No, you are going to wait."
"Excuse you?"
"No, excuse you. It'll be up here any second now." He finished. I shut up and watched the movie and of corse five seconds later Mona and London came in holding a cake singing happy birthday. I shook my head and asked "What's all of this for? I haven't gotten a cake in how long?"
"Well I think this year you should get one." Mona said.
"Who decides when people get a cake? I'd like to meet them." I asked.
"Oh hush please just make a wish and blow out your candles." Mona said holding the cake out to me. I made my wish and blew out the candles.
"You know what I want to know? Why do we do we make a wish and blow out the candles? Why not just give me my cake?" I asked with curiosity.
"Who knows? But I think it's a sweet tradition." Mona said.
"Well we are going to let you have your cake and I'll talk to you tomorrow morning." London said hugging me. Mona nodded and they set the cake on the table by my bed along with some plates and forks.
"Happy birthday your highness." Oliver said looking at me.
"Thanks Oliver." I said quietly sitting up and handing him a plate and fork. He looked at me curiously. "What? I'm not gonna eat all of this on my own." I told him. He took the plate and I cut him a slice. We ate in comfortable silence.
Until of corse Oliver asked a question. "How long has it been since you've celebrated your birthday?"
"I don't know a hundred years." I mumbled. He started to choke on his cake and when he finally cleared his throat his questioned "Why so long?"
"Well when you become old as dirt you begin to not want to be reminded."
"How old are you?" I looked at him like he was crazy for asking that question.
Is this his first time ever having talking to a women?
"Do you know how long I've been queen?" He shook his head. "Do you know anything about the history of the world for the past hundreds of years?" He shook his head no again. I began to shake my head too. I set my plate down on the table beside me.
"I've been ruling the world since 2047." his eyes widened, I just continued to shake my head.
"Why does it matter?"
"Oliver, I'm a very important reason why the world is like this. I'm pretty much just about the only reason. The humans aren't exactly to happy with what happened. I wasn't the cause but I was the effect, if that makes any sense."
"I'm sorry it kinda doesn't."
"Thomas the person who died today was apart of the cause. And things were going on in the world that got me to do things to change the whole equation of the world. What I did wasn't the cause of the original problem, but what I did caused the effect, which later made it the cause." His eyebrows raised and he seemed very interested in what I had to say.
"What happened?" Since the nit wit asked and seemed so interested I told him about the war. And how Thomas had made the chemical. I told him everything that has happened from the point of me giving the chemical to the government all the way to the point of 2047 where I ruled the world. He seemed amazed. "You did all of that." I nodded my head like it was nothing. "Wow, you are old as dirt." He said laughing.
I narrowed my eyes at him and glared. Even though he saw me he continued to laugh. "I'm not so old that I can't beat your ass."
"Oh I know." he said still laughing. I ignored him and watched my movie trying to block him out.
"Your highness, can I ask you something?" Oliver asked after his laughing dissolved.
"You already did ask me something."
"Fine another thing?"
"You just did it again."
"Your highness please."
"Fine what?"
"Did you ever mean for it to go this far?"
"No, Oliver I can honestly say I never meant for it to go this far." I said with my voice fading.
I wish it never went this far...
