Ravens POV
I was in a deep sleep. When I was falling in the dark whole, it felt the life had been sucked out of me.
My eyes were closed. I didn't want to do see what was happening. I just let myself fall. I didn't want to know.
"Raven." That annoying, but familiar said to me annoyed. I pilled my eyes open seeing if my suspicions were correct, that it was that idiot.
Sadly, I was correct. When I opened my eyes I was greeted by the dead man walking. "What do you want?" I growled not wanting to hear or see him. I wanted to fall peacefully, wherever that got me.
"Saving you." He said softly, which surprised me. I looked at him confused, not understanding. "You're dieing Raven." He said simply and with sadness locking around his voice.
"How?" I asked not understanding how I could be dieing. I was "stable" according to the doctor.
"That doesn't matter, what matters is you need to fight." He explained. I still didn't understand and I wanted my damn question answered.
Damn, he's really good at not answering my questions...
"Whatever, I don't need care. Why don't you just go back to where you came from and leave me alone?" I said just wanting him to leave.
He sighed and grabbed my hand tightly making a scene appear. We were in a blue and white office. It was quite quirky and happy. But the girl sitting the chair wasn't. She was sobbing, uncontrollably.
"Who's that?" I asked not caring at the moment why he took me here.
"Her name is London. She's the girl you talked to before about going to the remote area." He told me watching the young women sob away with a blank expression.
"Why is she crying?" I asked dumbly seemingly like a total idiot for not knowing anything.
"You died." He said plainly and cold heartedly making my heart want to jump out of my chest and slap him for saying it like that.
"Why would it effect her?"
"You are her best friend."
"Wait, I thought you said you were here to save me. Why are you here if I'm already dead?" I stated wanting some answers longer than just two words.
"This is what's going to happen if you die. You are still alive. And I'm here to make sure it stays that way.
I look back over to her and she grabs something from her desk. Quickly, almost too quick to realize, she has a gun. She puts it up to her head, and a loud bang roars. I jump back knowing what happened.
"Why the hell would you show me that you bastard!" I turn yelling at him. I couldn't believe that he'd show me that. The image of her was glued in my mind.
"You need to know." he chocked out with vague sorrow linking in his voice.
He popped us into another scene. We were in the streets where everything was colorless and dull. Just about everyone looked homeless and starving. The snow was falling and it was freezing cold.
There was a mom with a new born child. She had a blanket wrapped around her. She was wearing a heavy jacket and blue jeans. She had her child held so close to her, like she was afraid that someone would take her away.
"Why are there so many people out here? Why do they all look homeless?" I ask with complete sadness in my eyes as I look up to the man.
He looked down at me and answered "38% of the population was homeless. The shelters are all over filled, they don't have enough money to make anymore." He said depressingly.
"Was it always this bad?" I ask wondering if I was the one who had caused this.
"No, when you were running it only two percent of the world was homeless. You supplied money for the humans if they didn't have jobs. It wasn't a whole lot that you could give them, but it was enough to give them food and shelter." He explained to me softly and gently.
"Then who did this?" I ask with bitterness and anger wanting to kill who ever did this.
"Jefferson. He was next in line after London, but since she killed herself a year after you died, Jefferson took over." He reported me.
"All of this happened in how long?"
"About five years after you died." he answered simply but fully.
We popped into another scene with a blink of an eye. We were in a large black and grey bedroom. It had a large king size bed and a dresser directly across from it. The walls were dark grey. The room had no windows. So the whole room had a depressing and saddening tone.
There was man sitting on the bed smoking. He looked lifeless and empty, like a hollow shell.
"Who is he?" I asked with a tear flowing down my cheek. Everything I'd seen had made my want to crawl up in a while and die.
"Oliver, he's the guy you talked to about the remote area, you know, the one that pissed you off." He responded lowly probably taking in the scene as hard as I was.
"I don't understand, how could he have taken my death so harshly?" I wondered.
"You guys had barely knew each other. He felt a connection with you, like you understood. That was something he never had. So after you died, he never fell in love with anyone. Sure, he searched and searched for that connection, but he never found it. So he spent the rest of his days taking over London's job. He ended up becoming an alcoholic who never went outside or really talked to anyone." He summarized for me.
I shook my head with my heart throbbing. This whole scene was depressing at the least. It was almost unbearable.
"So do you see now Raven? You need to fight." The man said to me clearly.
I nodded in realization. I was too weak and depressed to fight, but I understood that I couldn't be selfish. I might not of had a reason not to live, but I didn't have a reason to die either.
The man disappeared, so did the scene. There was light right in front of me. When I turned around there was a dark light behind me.
I took a look at the light and I saw myself being revived by the doctor. My heart wasn't beating. Everyone in the room was panicking.
I turned around and looked at the dark light and I saw the three scenes again. My heart heart and in the back of my mind I knew if I took this life, or death, it would mean others suffering.
I sighed and I turned back around and stepped into the light. The flow was over powering and I let it take me in.
I felt like I was on clouds. My mind was at peace because I knew I did the right thing. I heard the man talk once again, "I knew you'd do the right thing." He said with glee in his voice. I smiled lightly.
I then woke up and was back in my hospital room. No one was in there, but I knew it wouldn't be long before London and Oliver came in...
I guess I should get used to not having peace, one way or the other, one of those idiots will be around me. Whether it's London, Oliver, or that man...
But now I wonder even more, who is he? And why is trying to help me...?
