The sun rays cut through my curtains waking me up. I was never a morning person and today was no different. I rubbed my eyes and stretched pushing the covers away.
I hit the buzzer on my light stand signaling Mona, my head servant, to come up with my breakfast.
Mona was a short women with dark brown hair and brown eyes. She was a vampire, but she never fit into a type. She's been here since the beginning and I'm still trying to figure her out. I wasn't threatened by her. She was a gentle, honest, caring soul, at least until she goes to work. She was the head of the servants and she didn't go easy on people that worked under her. She didn't allow anybody to do things half ass. She knew how I would react to anything done less than perfection.
It only took about a minute before Mona came dashing in with my glass. I'd usually only ever have something to drink in the morning. I couldn't eat in the morning, it made me nauseous.
"Good morning your highness. How'd you sleep?" Mona asked me like she did every morning. She stood by my bed side looking neat and put together standing at my bed side.
"Fine, same as everyday." I said as I took the tray from her hands. I looked at the steady glass and sighed just simply sick of routine.
As she was walking away she turned around and said "Oh and by the way you have another meeting today with Jefferson."
"Why do I have another meeting with him, we just had one last week."
"Well he said he had some things to address." She shrugged informing me politely.
"Why do you know about this? It's not your job to know about my meetings." I said lowly confused. I preferred people to do their jobs and their jobs only. I felt as if they were sticking their nose in places it didn't belong.
"Jefferson stopped by the kitchen and told one of my servant to pass the note." she explained plainly.
"Well thanks, I'll make sure he leaves you all alone from now on." She nodded and left the room leaving me in silence.
I set the glass full of water down after taking a sip and walking to my balcony. I hung over the edge looking at the city under me.
I just looked down at the people wondering why they were in such a hurry, at least why the humans were. Most of them don't even have jobs. With most of the population being vampires most employers won't hire a human.
After about a few minutes being on the balcony my best friend London showed herself outside as well.
"Hey Rav." she said simply. London had Blonde hair and blue eyes. She was bubbly, quirky, and sweet. I don't know why I ever got along with her. She was definitely more cheery than I was. We were like day and night. She was a daydream and I was a nightmare.
"London," I started lowly still looking down at the city. She looked at me from the doorway confused listening closely. "did you know the castle has been under attack 3 times in the past 3 weeks?"
"It's not like it did any damage. This place has been raided how many times before? Why are worried about it now? Are you threatened?!" She said with a sly smile teasing me
"No I'm not threatened! It's just it all gets annoying." I mumbled not looking at her.
"Well you know I'm always here to talk if you ever want to." She always offered, but I never seemed to take it. I never wanted her view of me to be any less.
"I've known you for 700 years, I haven't needed to talk then and I don't think I'll need to now." I turned around to look at her and she raised her eyebrows. "Thanks though." she shook her head and walked out the door.
