(Okay so this one is actually really bloody long and I apologise, I just couldn't stop writing so I hope you enjoy it.)
(I'm also going to do a part 2 to this)

"Jesus has anyone seen the Lieutenant?"

Poppy gets startled when she hears a new voice on the end of her radio. She'd been listening to the radio traffic for hours when she was just starting to doze off and she heard a voice she had never heard before come through.
The voice was faint and unfamiliar to her, she holds the ear peace to her ear as she tries to hide a yarn into hand.
She could tell the words were English so she knew it wasn't German men on the other end.

"Hey fellas anyone seen the Lieutenant?" Poppy faintly heard again, she thought they must of moved further away from the radio or was just Whispering. She can imagine a poor guy wondering around trying to find his Lieutenant with no help from his mates near him, all she could think was poor chap.

Checking the signal she memorises the numbers and clicks her flashlight on. As she scans the paper she's been give with other signals on she tries to find the one she's looking for, out of the corner of her eye she sees her foxhole partner groan at the light she's using but she pays no mind to him, she does a double take to make sure she's got the right code and lifts the mouthpiece to her lips.

"C7-821 do you copy?"

"What the hell-" there was a faint scratching sound and she giggles. "Ah shit" a row of tapping comes through the other end to her and she holds the receiver away from her ear a little. "Shit is this thing on" the voice whispers, Poppy couldn't help but chuckle at the poor guy.

"Yeah it is" she smirks "guess you can hear me now huh?" She asked and waited for a reply.

"Yeah-oh wait shit- what's the word.. uh splash?"

"Thunder" you replied with a giggle at the end.

"Christ imagine if a kraut picked that up, they'd have a field day"

You nodded even though he couldn't see and you pulled the mouthpiece up to your mouth.
"Well let's hope your babbling doesn't happen again then" you said and he gasped into the radio.

"I'll have you know I was not babbling miss?" He asked .
"You know I can't tell you my name" you said
"Worth a shot-hey what's a girl doing out here anyway?" He asked and you could almost ask yourself the same question sometimes.

"Long story" was all you gave the man. And it really would be, how she got to this outpost, in the middle of Autumn cold with half her regiment fighting krauts on all sides and the other half dead or wounded. And by some miracle they hadn't been bombed all night, poopy knew she should be getting some rest but she just couldn't sleep knowing the Germans could bomb them any moment while not prepared.

"You find your Lieutenant yet?" She asked and she heard some shuffling around on the other end, he must be moving around she thought.

"Ah you mean Meehan? Nah he's off with the higher ups" poppy shock her head with this man saying his officers name, he must just be clueless or is just forgetting someone could be listening on the other end that isn't her.

"You know you aren't very good with keeping the whole name thing a secret are you?" She sighed into the end but couldn't help the fat eating grin on her face.

"Eh the Krauts will never know, it's just you and make talking, what's your name again?"
Poppy could almost see the shit eating smirk on the mans face as he leant in closer to the mouthpiece.

"I didn't say remember? And for good reason"

"Fine then, what can I call you then?" He asked with a sigh.
"Hmm" she tilts her head to the side.
"How about sunflower?"
