Johnny Martin

As a medic you had life pretty ruff, you saw loads of things that a human just shouldn't have to see. But being a female in a war zone, just made things a little more ruff.
The men had there own ways of dealing with things but for you, it was the hardest thing to deal with. You just didn't know how to feel, the only thing you felt was guilt and loneliness, even though you weren't lonely at all.
Johnny Martin was the one person who made you feel less lonely, from stealing kisses to cuddling in foxholes, your guys relationship just depend everyday, you would both talk about life back home, he'd tell you about his job and his work mates, you would tell him about your house up in the mountains, it's something that made you feel less lonely.
But being a medic just brought everything Back to your mind, the guilt of not being able to save someone, holding someone while they cry and die, you couldn't get the faces out of your head, you didn't know if they ever would stop.

As you made your way over to the lunch line you could feel someone's eyes on you, you didn't want to look up, you had just come back from Bastogne from taking skinny in, the things you saw there just wouldn't leave your brain.
You could feel the water in your eyes, you could feel them falling down your face. You walked past everyone and went and sat down on a log under a tree, you didn't look up, you just listened to the boys talking and you played with the ends of your fingers.
You knew who was watching you, it was always Johnny watching you, he cared so much about you.

"Johnny she alright?" Bill whispered into Johnny's ear, he just shrugged his shoulders.
"I'm not sure Bill, I'll go see what's up" Bill chuckled
"Go get her tiger" Johnny just rolled his eyes and walked over to you.
You heard footsteps but didn't dare look up. Someone had taken a seat next to you.
"What's eating you up sweetheart?" Johnny asked while putting an arm around your shoulder.
Just hearing his voice made you crumble, the tears were falling down your face now and you put a hand over your mouth.
"Aw babe come here" Johnny pulled you into his side and ran his hands through your hair, you could feel others watching you both, it wasn't often the boys got to see Johnny so soft and gentle, they socked up every moment they could seeing you both like that.
Johnny could tell you were worried about everyone around you.
"Oi you lot turn around and eat your lunch!" Johnny snapped and everyone turned around and started eating and talking. The only one that didn't was Bill, he was a close friend to you.

"I can't do this anymore Johnny, it's eating me up and I can't deal with it" you cried into his chest. His hand rubbed up and down your back and you felt him kiss your hair.
"Hey doc" you looked up to see Nixon and Winters there. Johnny gave them a nod but still had his arms around you.
"Yes sir?" You asked while looking at them both.
"Why don't you and Johnny go and eat your food in a foxhole huh? And get some rest?" You shock your head.
"I can't sir, I need to help Gene" Lewis smiled and looked at Johnny, you could feel the eye roll from Johnny.
"Darling your resting, come on let's go" winters nodded at Johnny's words and then at you and you sighed. You weren't winning this one.

Johnny led you away from the boys and back to his foxhole. Once you were sat down in his foxhole with him he put a blanket over you and pulled you into his side. After a little while of silence Johnny spoke up.
"You know you are the bravest and strongest women I have ever meet, and you can get through this, I know you can" you smiled a little at his words, you didn't say anything but learnt more into his touch. Johnny smiled as he looked down at you.
"And you have me here, I'll look after you" you chuckled.
"More like me looking after you lot" he chuckled and kissed your head.
"Yeah but you know I'm here for you right?" You nodded into his chest. His arms pulling you closer.
"I don't tell you often Ashlee but I love you" you pulled away and looked into his eyes.
"You do?" You asked and you saw him look down and look back up at you.
"Yes really" you smiled at him.
"Well I love you as well Johnny" he smiled and pulled you back into his chest.
"Well now that's out, how about you get some sleep for me aye?" You nodded your head and closed your eyes.
As you were almost asleep you heard Johnny talking with someone.

"She asleep then Martin?" Nixon whispered.
"Yes sir, finally" you heard both of them chuckle.
"Look after get Johnny"
"I will sir" and with that you went to sleep with a smile on your face.
