Shifty Powers

It was the 13th of March 1943. It was your best friend shifty powers birthday, he was turning 20 today. You had meet shifty when you joined Easy company, you were both snipers and hit it off right away.
You both had very different personalities however. He was very soft and gentle and kind towards people. Where as you were very straight forward and didn't let people fuck you around, you said what you thought and didn't care what people thought of you. Somehow you both just mixed together beautifully.

You and shifty shared the love of hunting, you both grow up in the mountains and always went hunting with family.
You also knew how to carve into wood, you made gifts for people with wood carving. People wouldn't believe it at first, that you had actually carved it but you'd show them and they would be amazed l.

"Daisy you coming to shifty's birthday drinks?" You looked up to see chuck stood there.
"Uh nah I'll catch up with all later, have a gift to finish up for him" chuck nodded and walked out. You needed to finish your wood carving for Shifty.

Meanwhile Shifty was sat in a pub with his mates waiting for you to turn up.
"Chuck did you end up finding dais?" Shifty asked his friend.
"Yeah she said she wasn't coming, said she had things to do". Shifty just nodded.
"Say shifty you like her don't you" at that he looked over to Popeye.
"What do you mean?" Shifty asked.
"We all see the way you look at her mate, your in love with her" Floyd added.
Shifty went bright red, the boys knew what that meant, shifty was in love with you.
"I don't know guys I mean yeah I love her but we are two very different people, and she is two years older then me" shifty told his friends as he played with his hands.
"So? Who cares if she's older, or if you both are two different people, you both get along just fine, and if you love her then why not just go for it?" Floyd had a point shifty thought.
"She doesn't even feel the same about me"
"Have you asked her?" Chuck asked with a grin.
"Well no but-" shifty was cut off.
"Do you want to know the real reason she isn't here having a drink?" Chuck asked and shifty just nodded.
"She's getting your birthday present, and has been for about a week now, she cares about you shifty, you can see it, every-time someone mentions your name she smiles so bright it's brighter then the sun." Shifty was a little shocked.
"Really?" He asked his friends and they all nodded at him.
"Go get her pale" Floyd told him. Shifty stood up and raced out the door back towards your guys barracks.
All his friends had grins on their faces as they watched shifty run off after you.

You had just got dressed into your Class A uniform and decided to wear your skirt. You had finished shifty's present and were going to make your way over to the pub.
You were about to walk out the door but someone ran into you, you almost went straight on your ass but someone's arms wrapped around you pulling you closer to them.
You looked at saw shifty standing there. You blushed like crazy. He had a small smile on his face.
"Shifty hey, I was just coming to the pub now" you told him as he let you go and you brushed down your skirt. Shifty's eyes followed down your body, he checked you out right in front of you, you blushed even more as you seen him looking you up and down.
"Uh well I came to check on you" shifty said while looking at your face.
"Aw well I'm alright, but actually I have something for you!" You said excitedly. It made shifty chuckle as he saw you jump a little as you raced over to your bed which was next to his and you pulled out his gift, you put it in a small box with dots on it.
"Here, happy birthday!" You said and handed the book to shifty and then have him a kiss on the check. You both blushed.
Shifty looked from you to the box. He opened it and grabbed the wooden carving you had done. He was amazed at it.
"You did this Daisy!?" He asked as he put the box down and admired the wooden Deer carving you had made.
"Yeah, my father taught me how to carve" shifty looked at you and smiled. You stood there playing with your hands.shifty saw and put his gift down. He walked over to you and cupped your face in his hands. You looked into his eyes as he did the same.
Before you knew it his lips were on yours, you wrapped your arms around his neck and one of his hands went down to your hips and pulled you closer to him.
You both moved in sync. You ran a hand through his hair and he deepened the kiss. He loved the feeling of your hands through his hair.
You pulled away and just blushed.
"I've wanted to do that for awhile now, but also thank you for my gift, I love it so much".
You and shifty were still stood close together and you took that opportunity to kiss him again. He groaned into the kiss and kissed you back. Before it could get any more heated you pulled away.
"How about we go to the pub? It's your birthday after all" he chuckled. And then took your hand in his. You walked out hand and hand. You both had smiles on your faces as you both walked into the pub. The small group were still sitting and chatting when they saw you both walk in. Shifty had held the door open for you and then wrapped an arm around your back. His hand rested on your lower back, you blushed.
"Hey guys" you said as you both got to the table.
"Hello love birds" Floyd said and winked at shifty.
He went bright red. You just laughed and kissed him in front of everyone.
There were cheers and whistles, he pulled you closer and kissed you back.
"That a boy shifty!" Floyd was sat there like a prod father. You pulled away and giggled at shifty.
"You have no idea what you do to me Dais" he told you. You looked down and tangled your hand in his and just smirked.
"Maybe you'll have to show me" you winked at him and then left to sit next to Floyd and chuck. Who started teasing you.
Shifty just stood there and chuckled to himself. You were definitely the one for him. And you knew he was the one for you.
"Best birthday ever" he whispered to himself as he sat down opposite it you. You couldn't keep your eyes off each other for the whole night.
Needless to say you ended up waking up in shifty's bed the next morning. You were wrapped in his arms with your head on his chest.
"I could get used to this" you whispered and you felt shifty chuckle under you.
Your life was complete for now.
