She used to sit with them, she used to talk and laugh with them, she used to share what was going on in her head, she didn't have a reason to hide it, but now she sits alone, she doesn't talk unless spoken to. She keeps everything in her head and to herself, she now has a reason to hide it. She used to have happiness but not she has nothing.

George was always around the guys, cracking jokes, keeping them laughing through shit times. George would always smile at her as she walked past and she would return the smile, but this time there was no smile upon her face. She looked dead inside.

Hazel smith was your name but you were well known in the group as shorty. After awhile the group started noticing that something was wrong. You had a bond with the company that could never be replaced. George was your best friend and you told him everything. But unfortunately you hadn't told him about one thing.
He would break if you told him.

You had been walking past all the foxholes checking on the guys when the shelling hit. You ended up seeing two good friends of yours die right in front of your very eyes. It had gotten to you. You started making you reserved from everyone, you didn't want to get close again, for them to just be taken away from you. It's all you could think about.
Your mental health wasn't good being out in Bastogne, you were fighting for your life on the line but you were also having a mental battle within yourself as well.

George was starting to get concerned for you. He decided he needed to go talk to an officer about hazel. He cared a lot about you, he didn't like seeing you dealing with all this on your own. He knew you were struggling with the death of your friends. Hell he was a well.
So George decided to go talk to Winters and Nixon. As he was walking to CP he walked past lieutenant Speirs and Hazel having a chat. She had a small smile on her face but George could tell it was fake. He carried on walking.

Hazel had been sitting in her foxhole way to long. She decided she needed to go for a walk, so she climbed out of her foxhole and went for a walk away from her company.
As she was walking she was to busy in her head to realise someone was following her.
She came to a stop and sat in the snow, she pulled out her side arm and started playing with it. Her head wasn't in the best please as it was, so adding a gun into the mix of her emotions just wasn't a great idea.
She had thought about just ending her life, many times but never could do it.
Without even thinking hazel pulled the gun so it was pointing at her.
The person that had seen and followed her was watching and saw what she was doing. He rushed over to her.
"Hazel!" Someone called her. She froze and looked up to seen lieutenant Speirs waking to her. She didn't say anything and just looked at him.
Ronald Speirs was a good friend of yours, it had been awhile since you had seen each other though.
He came and sat next to Hazel and pulled the gun out of her hands.
"What are you doing out here Hazel?" Speirs asked while looking at her. He could see the colour from her eyes fade and he could see that she was exhausted, mentally and physically. Hazel didn't say anything to him again. She looked out to the line in front of her. She could feel the water in her eyes starting to form. The tears rolled down her checks, Speirs saw and just sighed, knowing his friend wasn't doing to great.
He moved closer to her and pulled her into his side. He didn't need to say anything, he just needed to be there for Hazel.
After awhile Speirs walked Hazel back to easy and she decided to talk to him about how she was feeling.
"Ron" Hazel said, Speirs looked at her.
"What is it Hazel?" He asked.
"I don't know how to deal with things anymore. I had to watch two of my best friends be blown up right in front of my face, I can't get it out of me head, and what makes things worse is I feel so alone. I don't want to be here anymore" at this point she was crying and Ron felt helpless.
He pulled her into his chest and just hugged her.
"You aren't alone Hazel, you have the whole of Easy who love and care about you. You have me and most of all you have George, he cares a lot about you Hazel, try talking to him, he might actually just be able to help." Hazel pulled away.
"I haven't talked to anymore In easy for almost a week Ron, I'm scared of getting close to anyone again" Ron understood.
"Well your getting close to me, what's the difference?" He had a point hazel thought.

"Sir can I have a word?" George asked captain Winters.
"What's up George?" Nix asked while wrapping his arms around his chest.
"Well it's about Hazel" George said as he came into CP.
"What's wrong with her?" Winter asked while sipping his drink.
"Well sir ever since skip and penkala she won't talk to anyone, she is very distant and I can see it's affecting her health sir" Dick looked at Nix.
"I must say Dick he's got a point, I walked past her foxhole last night and she looked away with the fairs, it's not her fault, just needs some help" Dick nodded. Just as he was about to open his mouth, Speirs walked in.
"Lieutenant Speirs, didn't know you were over this way" dick said.
"Yeah well I was following a certain women" Ron said and sat down next to George.
"Hazel?" Nix asked and Ron nodded.
"Yeah she's uh, she's not doing so good. I found her sitting in the snow playing with her gun" Ron pulled the gun out of his coat and gave it to the officers. "Was she going to-"
"Yeah, she would of if I wasn't there" George looked down at his hands.
"Say George I told her to talk to you, she talked to me but that's because she couldn't hold it in anymore" Ron said while looking at George.
"What did she say?" Dick asked.
"She said she feels so alone, she doesn't know how to handle things anymore and she doesn't want to be here" everyone didn't say a word. George got up and just left, going to look for you right away. He wasn't angry at hazel he was just worried for her life now.
"He's a good friend isn't he?" Ron asked.
"Yeah he is, think it's a bit more then friends though Ron, I think he might actually feel for Hazel, which I can understand, she's a mean son of a bitch sometimes" Ron chuckled at Nix.
"Yeah she learnt from the best" Ron said and laughed.

"Hazel" George said as he looked down at his friend.
"George hey" hazel said. She patted the spot next to her. He jumped down and smiled. Knowing her talk with Speirs has helped her a bit. He sat down and bumped shoulders with her. She giggled a little.
"I've missed you Haz" George said. She looked up at him and he could tears in her eyes.
"I know, I'm sorry George, I just didn't know how to deal with anything, I didn't want to see you or anyone else get hurt" George knew what she was saying. He put an arm around her shoulder and pulled her into his side.
"It's okay hazel, I'm here for you, when ever you want to talk then I'm here okay?" He asked. She nodded.
"How about you get some sleep yeah? You need it." She nodded into George's chest.
"Thank you George for not giving up on me" she said and he smiled.
"I'm never giving up on you shorty" she smiled and clung to George as she went into a peaceful sleep. The first time she was able to sleep in almost a week.
She was happy to have someone like George in her life. She really had missed him.
