It was two in the morning and you were tossing and turning, you just couldn't sleep. All you could think about was who was going to get sent home in the next couple of days. You wanted it to be shifty. He deserved it more then anyone in the company. He was always in the front line, he never missed a shot meaning he saved so many life's and over all he was just so pure and young. You wanted him to go home. He was your best friend in the company and you needed to see him go home. So you did what any friend would do and you tried to make it happen.
You rolled out of bed and made your way to the officers living area which was just down the hall from you. You needed to talk to you CO Ronald Speirs. True be told he used to scar the shit out of you but now he's like a brother to you, it's awesome. You got to his door and knocked... no answer. So you knocked again. There was still no answer. You went to knock again but saw a light come on under the door and heard footsteps. "This better be fucking good" Ron locked eyes with you. "Leah what the fuck do you want at 2 in the morning?" You smiled a little while looked down at your hands. "Get in here" you did as you were told and walked into Ron's room. "Uh sir I need to talk to you. I can't sleep because of something that's on my mind" he nodded for me to continue. "Well you see sir I really really really would like for shifty powers to go home.. you see he doesn't have enough point but I can't see anyone else who deserves it more sir" you looked at your CO to see what his face was saying but there wasn't anything but a straight face. "I'll see what I can do Leah but I can't promise anything" you jumped up and down a little and then hugged him, he hugged you back. "Oh my gosh sir thank you so much" "Leah fuck off with the sir shit alright it's Ron and especially at 2 in the morning.. now go back to bed" "Alright alright grumpy bum" you walked out his down and he chuckled at you.
(Time skip)
It was a couple of day later when someone would be picked to go home. Everyone was gathering around and chatting. You walked up to shifty and hugged him so hard. "Hey Leah you alright" you just nodded. He wrapped you in his arms like he always does. You knew you were going to miss things like this when he goes home... you had to go the Pacific and he was going to go home.. hopefully. You would one day see him again.
"For easy company...." Ron started and looked at you with a small wink. You looked at the other boys and they were all looking at Ron. Nobody had any idea you had asked for it to be shifty.
"Darrell Powers" I looked at shifty and he couldn't believe what he just heard.
"Attaboy shifty" bill said patting him on the back
"That's how it's down shifty" George nudged you. "Aye you didn't have something to do with this did ya?" You just smiled and George knew. He chuckled and patted my arm and walked over to shifty. Shifty looked up at me with a sad expression on his face but you have him a big smile and a nod to tell him it's okay. He walked over to you and pulled you into a bone crushing hug and you had tears in your eyes. You knew this was going to be the hardest part... was saying goodbye to your best friend, someone you loved so much. Shifty pulled back and whipped your tears away with his fingers. "Don't cry Leah, I will definitely be seeing you again" "I know it's just hard to say goodbye" he nodded and pulled you into him again. The company watched in aw as you both hugged each other. "Kiss her shifty!" You pulled away and looked at shifty. "Why are they saying kiss me for?" Shifty blushed and looked down and then back up at you. He didn't say anything but smash his lips on yours while cupping your face in his hands. Your arms went around his neck and you sunk into the kiss. You pulled away and covered your mouth with one hand. "I needed to do it Leah.. I've been wanting to for so long now" you just blushed. "I understand if this changes our friendship I didn't to do it" You didn't answer and just kissed him again, he was a little shocked but definitely love it. "Get it shifty. Attaboy" you giggled into the kiss and shifty smiled like crazy. "I'm going to miss you shifty.. like crazy" "I'm going to miss you more love... just don't go getting yourself killed out there please?" You giggled but nodded at him. "I'll try my best" he smiled and hugged you into his side. You didn't know shifty liked you like that and you didn't know you like him like that either but it seemed to work so you went with it. Shifty ended up being the love of you life after the war and you both got married. Life was amazing for you both after the war. You both deserved to no end. You are both still happily married and living life to the fullest with each other.
