Night mares. You absolutely hated them, it was something that started controlling your life, every night you would go to sleep scared knowing you were going to wake up from a nightmare.
Some nights you didn't sleep at all because of it.
As you sat in your foxhole in the freezing cold snow, you looked over at your boyfriend and the two men sat next to him. All three of them were sitting close together with a blanket wrapped around them. You smiled as you watched them.
Being a medic you saw a lot of things that most of the other men didn't see.
As you had approached Don's foxhole you were expecting to see him and skip playing cards or just chatting away, but you found them asleep under a blanket.
You knew you were going to be getting very little sleep or if any at all tonight.
As you watched out over the snow you heard movement from the boys. You looked over to see Don getting out from under the blanket to come over to you.
"Hey baby" he whispered as he sat down next to you. You smiled at him, to cold to actually speak.
Don wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you into his side.
"Here get some sleep honey, I know you've been busy all day" you didn't say anything. How could you tell your boyfriend that you were scared to go to sleep because of the nightmares that took place inside your head. He would think you are weak and a child, he would probably laugh at you. The more you thought about it the more it hurt you.
You snuggled into his side with a sigh, luckily he didn't hear your sigh roll from your mouth.
As you listened to Don's heart beat you closed your eyes, you Concentrated on the beat of his heart until sleep took over you without you knowing.

Everything around you was spinning as you ran through the white forest, trees were exploding left right and centre as you ran past them, you could hear the calls for a medic screaming out to you.
You just didn't know where they were calling from.
As a tree exploding in front of you, you were flown into the air and landing on the frozen ground, your helmet rolling of your head and stopping no to far from you.
As you rolled over you groaning as the pain in your legs took over.
Before you knew it the pain was gone and you were standing in front only the company.
They were all in a circle as you walked up to them, nobody said a word to you as you walked up and pushed your way through.
You froze when you saw your boyfriend laying in the snow with his eyes wide while looking up at the sky.
You had no words. Everything started to get dark around you. The world was spinning so fast, you crashed onto your knees as you let a scream out.
Voices started to echo into your head.
"You did this."
"You let him die"
"How can we let you look after our company."
"Your going to get us all killed.
"Your boyfriend is dead because of you!"

Your eyes snapped open and you gasp for air, you felt eyes on you and someone was holding your arms.
"Babe you okay?" You looked over and saw your boyfriend looking at you, as well as skip and penkala.
You couldn't say a word, nothing would come out and all you could feel were the tears forming in your eyes, you tried blinking them away but all it did was make them stream down your face even more.
"Guys can you maybe give us a moment?" You heard Don whispered to his friends. They nodded and got up to leave you with Don.
Once they had left Don moved closer to you, you gasped for air again and backed away from him, you didn't want to hurt him, not like your nightmare. You couldn't see the look of hurt on Dons face as you moved away.
"Baby come here, tell me wants wrong" you shock your head no. That's when you broke down in front of him. He had never seen you this upset before. It broke his heart to see you in so much pain.
"No don't come any closer I don't want to hurt you" you managed to tell him. He sighed as he watched you. He now knew what was going on, he knew your nightmare was about him and him getting hurt.
"Babe I'm right here, I'm not hurt, and you of all people aren't going to hurt me, your the best medic in this goddam company and you know that, please just let me hold you" you looked up at him and saw him open his arms for you. How could you say no to him. You crawled over to his arms and sobbed into his chest as he wrapped his strong arms around you, he pulled you into his lap as he sat back against the foxhole wall, you wrapped an arm around his neck while his hand rubbed soft circles into your clothes.
"I can't lose you Don, that nightmare felt so real, It felt like everything had happened, I couldn't save you and I feel like I won't be able to if something bad happens" you felt a kiss to your hair as you continued to cry into his chest.
"You wont have to worry about that my love, I'll always be here okay, no matter what" you nodded.
You stayed there in his arms for a couple of minutes until Don spoke up.
"Look at me darling" he whispered, you pulled away from his chest and looked him in the eyes. You still had tears rolling down your checks.
Don reached up to wipe away your tears with his fingers.
"You are so beautiful, even if you do look like a mess" you chuckled at his statement. Before you knew it his lips were on yours and you kissed back.
As he pulled away he pulled you closer to him. You could feel sleep taking over you once again as you had cried so much.
Don pulled a blanket over you both and kissed your neck.
"Go to sleep, I'll be here when you wake up" and with that you drifted into sleep.

Don looked up to see Skip come back over.
"How's our girl doing, we heard the whole thing" Don sighed while playing with your hair.
"She'll be fine Skip, just tired of this war just like the rest of us." Skip nodded as he looked over at your sleeping form.
"She's in the safety hands around mate" Don smirked and chuckled at his mates words.
As he looked down at you he couldn't help but smile, he loved you so much it hurt sometimes.
All he wanted was for you to be safe and sound. He made it his mission to keep you safe and out of harms way.
