Ever since being back from the war you had been having awful nightmares. You and gene had been back for about two months now and your nightmares started getting a lot worse. You screamed and twitched in your sleep most of the time which would wake Gene up. You felt so bad and always apologised to him but he didn't mind, he didn't care that you woke him up, he just wanted to make sure you were okay.

So just like most nights you were twitching it your sleep. Gene had his back to you and was fast asleep. You always ended up cuddling while falling asleep but always woke up apart.

"Gene where are you? Please Gene this isn't funny"I called out into the white snow. Gene didn't respond.
'Bang' i turned on my heels and started running from the sound of a gun. It kept going off for several minutes. I never stopped running.
"Cas" I turned around and saw gene on the floor next to a soldier. Both were bleeding out.
You ran up to him but he disappeared.
You fall to your knees and tears formed in your eyes.
"CAS GO!" I looked up and saw gene standing there.
"Gene you were just on the floor bleeding" I said but he didn't say anything, I went to grab his hand but again he disappeared on me.
I screamed and screamed for Gene to come back but nothing happened.
You started seeing all the faces of people you couldn't save while being a medic and then Genes face came into view.

You shot up in bed, you had tears running down your face and you were sweating. You looked over at Gene and he was still asleep. At least I hadn't screamed tonight you thought. You sighed and ran a hand through your long blonde hair. You were sick of these dreams. It always ended with Gene dying. You hated it.
You could feel the tears forming and they started falling. You put a hand over your mouth as you sobbed.
"Cas" you turned to look at Gene. He was half sat up and still looked half asleep but as soon as he saw your tears he shot up in bed and pulled you into his arms. You sobbed into Genes side as he cradled you in his arms. He put general kisses to your head and rubbing circles in your back to calm you down.
"I'm so sorry Gene, I don't even know why your still with me, I can't even give you a full nights sleep" you cried into his chest.
"Cas look at me" gene said. You looked up at him.
"You my darling do not need to be sorry okay, you have nothing to be sorry about. I don't care that I get woken up, as long as you are fine then that's all I care about. I'm never leaving you Cas" you let a little sob out and he pulled you back into him. He hated seeing you like this. He had seen what the war did to you with losing friends but now he was seeing what the war had done to you mentally. It broke his heart. Yeah he had dream but not like yours, yours got worse over time and he was starting to get worried.

After awhile you started to calm down and Gene lay you down next to him. He had an arm wrapped around your shoulder as your head lay on his chest. You listened to his heart beat and kept telling yourself it was all just a dream.
"Gene" you asked
"Mhm" he said
"Can we stay in bed tomorrow and just cuddle?" You asked just above a whisper but gene heard you.
"We can do what ever you want to do darling" he said while kissing your head. You just nodded a little. You ended up falling back to asleep while gene played with your hair. He waited until he knew you were fully asleep before he went back to sleep as well.

After awhile your dreams went away, you still had the odd one but not like you used to. Either way Gene was always there for when you did have one. And that's all you could ask for.
