When easy company finally made there way into Austria it felt like a weight had been lifted off the shoulders for a lot of the higher ups. It meant more time to be able to relax a bit and to enjoy not having to worry about fighting the Germans.
For lewis being in Austria meant that he could spend all his time with you for once, you both were close during the war but because of him being up in battalion it made it harder to see him.
You couldn't deny that you had some kind of feelings towards lewis and he couldn't either.
Time would only tell on wether or not either one of you would tell the other how you really felt.

One sunny morning you and Dick made your way down to the lake, Dick liked to go swimming in the mornings to wake up and you just tagged along as lewis was never really up this early. You knew he wasn't a morning person at all.
"Morning" Dick called out  it had you a little confused until you heard a chuckle behind you. Turning around lewis was stood there with a smirk on his face. "Yeah Morning" he chuckled as you looked him over.
"Lewis have you even slept?" You asked while walking over to the edge of the doc where Dick was stood.
"What's with the lewis bullshit, but no I haven't slept yet, it is time for bed though darling" hearing him call you darling made butterfly's fly around your stomach.
Dick chuckled at lewis before giving you a look.
The look he always gave you every time you were around lewis.
Dick was the only person who knew of your liking to lewis and you had asked him to keep it that way until you were ready to tell him.
"So you taking a dip to?" Looking back at lewis you shock your head no before taking a set on the edge of the wooden Doc. Dick dived into the water leaving just you and lewis.
He came and sat next to you before pulling his flask out. Sighing you ripped it out of his hands and thrown it into the water.
"What the fuck Jane!"he pushed your shoulder but you could see a small smile on his face, he knew you didn't like his drinking and he really was trying to cut down, maybe all he needed was you to throw his flask away.
Looking out over the lake you could feel eyes on you, you knew it was lewis and it made butterfly's fly around your stomach.
"What are you looking at Lew" looking at him you saw a grin on his face, it made you blush and look away.
"Just looking at the most beautiful girl in the world" scoffing at his words you sat there not saying a word. You didn't know how to respond to Lew's words and he could see that in the way you never answered him and how you kept looking out over the lake.
Thinking back to the first time you met Lewis you knew from the get go that he was the guy you wanted to spend the rest of your life with but knew you weren't his type and only saw you as a close friend.
You had zoned out a bit until you heard lewis calling your name.
"Elekis!" Looking at Lewis you saw a grin on his face, you had no idea what he was grinning at.
"Sorry was just thinking" he hummed in response while still looking into your eyes.
You both sat in silence for a little bit until Lewis laid back on the dock. Looking back at him you saw he had his eyes closed and his arms over his head.
"Enjoying the view?" Blushing you looked away with a sigh, it court Lew's attention and he sat up looking at you.
"What's on your mind El?" You had no idea how you were meant to tell him it was him who was on your mind, every day of every minute of every hour.
"It's nothing important Lew" he scoffed and shock his head.
"I can read you like a book El, there is something on your mind" smiling to yourself you turned your head to face Lewis and saw him already looking at you.
"I just- i like someone and don't know how to tell him, from the day i met him i knew he was the guy i wanted to spend the rest of my life with"
Seeing the look on Lew's face made your smile fall, he looked upset at your words.
"What's that look for?" You asked but all Lew could do was shake his head while looking down at his hands that were playing with his fingers.
"Lewis" you whispered his name and he looked up at you.
"I just didn't know you liked someone was all..-who's the lucky guy anyway?" You didn't know to react to Lew's question, it sounded so bitter and didn't sound anything like Lewis at all.
"It's uh-its" Lewis just looked at you, waiting for you to continue.
"It's you Lewis, its always been you" looking away from him you felt like you were going to be sick with it now out in the open.
"Sorry what?" You heard him ask. Closing your eyes and taking a deep breath in you finally decided to look at him.
He had a small smile on his face and couldn't keep his eyes off of you.
"I'm in love with you Lew, i have been since the first day i met you, your what i see in my future and your everything i need and want" you could feel the tears welling up in your eyes and you knew it was time for you to leave and go back to your room. Getting up you heard lewis do the same but you turned away from him, trying to quicken your walk you tried to get away from the embarrassment. "El wait up" shaking your head you Carried on walking away when you felt Lew's had grab your wrist, pulling you back to face him. Before you could say anything lewis crashed his lips to yours with his hands cupping your face, you had froze in place once his lips had touched yours, you had dreamt of this moment for over three years and now it was happening, it was almost as you had pictured it in your head. Kissing him back you felt him grin into the kiss and you couldn't help but giggle while pulling away.
Lew leant his forehead against yours with a massive smile on his face.
"I've waited three years to kiss you El, i wish you had told me sooner on how you felt because i've been in love with you since i first saw you as well" laughing you hugged him, his arms wrapping around your waist while his face rested in between your neck. "I wish you'd kissed me sooner because its all I've ever wanted Lew"
Lewis pulled away from you and grinned. "All you had to do was ask sweetheart" with that lewis leant in and placed his lips on yours.
Telling lewis how you felt was the best thing you ever did, you just wished you'd done it sooner rather then later, you both always asked yourself what could of happened if you'd both just been honest with each other, but at the same time you were both just glad you had told each other in the end.
Life after the war got a whole lot better knowing lewis was going to be by your side through thick and thin.
