BARBATOS'S POV

I held my daughter in my arms and wept. She was crying too. She was only 3, but she was so smart. I think she knew what had been going on. She was there when it started, and she saw so much. "Daddy no bad." She whispered as she clung onto me. It made me cry even more. She was so pure and precious, how could I ever have forgotten her or my baby Hazel? "I am so sorry." I said to her. She sniffled and kissed me cheek. "No sowwy daddy, its okay." I hugged her so tightly.

Elaina was frozen. I don't think she knew what was happening or what to do. The only noise was from my daughter and I crying. "B-Batey...?" Elaina stood shakily. "Lainey." I choked. I held out my hand to her and she took it. She put her other hand up to my cheek and looked deeply into my eyes. I could tell she was still unsure if I was really myself again or not. "Daddy good." Wendy repeated. "What she said." I smiled. Elaina grabbed me and kissed me passionately and I, of course, reciprocated. "Ewwww." Wendy whined. I couldn't help but giggle.

DIAVOLO'S POV

We all watched in terror as little Wendy ran into the dungeon. We had no idea how she had gotten there or why. I jumped up and ran to the bars of the cell as Barbatos made his move toward her. I was about to try to break the bars clean off until I saw him take her in his arms and cry. That's when I knew the spell was broken. "Barbatos..." - "My Lord... I am so sorry. I have betrayed you all. Please forgive your servant." He knelt in front of me with his head low. "Of course I forgive you Barbatos. This was not your fault." I reassured. "No one blames you, Batey." Barbatos returned his attention to his wife and daughter. "I have to get you out of here. You're sick." He cried as he held onto his wife. "Mommy ick?" Wendy worried. "Mommy is fine." Elaina answered. "I can get you all out of here and..." - "No..." I interjected. "If you set us free than my father will raise an attack and we will lose. You need to keep up the rouze, keep acting like you are still under his spell. We need someone on the inside." I explained.

We set a plan in action. Barbatos would keep up his charade and follow my father's orders for the time being so he could get whatever bits of information he could. We took Elaina's time down here into consideration and planned to make sure we could get her our as soon as we figured something out. The one thing that really needed addressing was our little surprise guest. "Wendy Darling, how did you find mommy?" Barbatos asked. "She must have followed me!" It was Victor, one of my servants that took the girls to shelter. "Victor, what are you doing here?" I asked. "I have some promising news! I have a brigade of demons that are loyal to you, ready to fight. They are rallying at the safe point as we speak, although we still need a few days." He explained. "They sent me here to give you hope."

It certainly lifted our spirits, but I wondered if it would be enough. Victor informed us that they planned to attack a week from today, but I asked him to push it back and to instead try to come back to give us more intel. We needed to know more about my father's plans before we waged war. "It seems that our luck may be changing.' Elaina smiled. "Please inform the others that you have made contact and please, take Wendy back with you." I commanded. Victor nodded and stepped forward to retrieve Wendy but she screamed. She wouldn't let go of her mother. We all tried to calm her down, the noises she was making were bound to draw attention. We heard a commotion outside and Barbatos pushed Victor back into the hidden tunnel. He had to get back to the army to tell them what was going on.

My father and two armed guards burst into the dungeon. Luckily, Barbatos was fast. He pried Wendy off of her mother and brought her outside of the cell as he locked it behind her. It caused her to freak out even more but at this point it may have worked in our favor, although it clearly broke all of our hearts. "What is this?" My father hissed, although once he saw Wendy his features softened ever so slightly, trying not to frighten her too much more than she probably already was. Of course it didn't quite work, my father was bigger than I was. "This child came from one of the passage ways hidden in the castle." Barbatos answered. "She keeps crying for her mother. The angel, I assume." He added. "Hello young lady. My name is Zebediah and what is your name?" My father asked as he crouched on his knee. I couldn't believe my father was stooping this low. Elaina looked horrified. Barbatos kept up his facade, but I knew he was just as concerned.

Wendy kept crying and looking at Barbatos. My father was too busy trying to get her to stop crying to notice Barbatos giving Wendy a little gesture. This family was so clever. She was so clever. She caught on right away. "M-my n-name... Wendy... I-I want my mommy!" She hiccuped. "Oh, of course you do little one but mommy is a bit busy. You can come with us if you would like or would you rather stay with mom down here?" Barbatos shook his head minutely. He definitely didn't want her to be down here and I knew Elaina felt the same. She wouldn't last long. She took one last look at her mom and waved at her. "Bye, bye mommy." She whispered so sadly. I was excruciating to watch. My father took Wendy's little hand and led her away. Elaina broke down in tears. She was so happy for a moment and then my father took Wendy away. We knew Barbatos would watch out for her if he needed, but we were all still worried for her safety.
