Elaina had been taking most of the responsibility for Wendy since her birth. As much as Barbatos tried to help, she just wanted to do her motherly duties and be with her baby. However, she had been getting quite tired lately and thought more and more about letting Barbatos take on a more hands-on role. Of course, he would help her change the baby, feed her, bathe her. They took turns getting up at night to take care of her, but Elaina just didn't want to let go. She wanted to be the main caretaker, but now, it was his turn.
Elaina: "Hey, Barbatos... Aurelia invited me to go shopping."
Barbatos: "That's great, dear! You should go. I can take care of Wendy! Some daddy/daughter time will be nice. I can break in my new baby sling."
Elaina: "Well.....here's the thing... She invited me to go shopping... In the human realm....for the weekend."
Barbatos: "Ah, I see... Well, that's fine! You should go, Lainey! You deserve it. You have been under a lot of stress lately. Spending the weekend with the baby will not be a problem at all. I am quite jealous of all of the alone time you get with her."
Elaina: "Weeeeeeell, okay! If you insist!!!"
She squealed excitedly, hugging her husband.
Elaina: "Thank you, thank you, thank you!!"
She shook him.
He laughed and patted her head.
Barbatos: "I'm glad you're happy, love!"
Elaina: "Oh! Just a heads up... Wendy has a baby play date this afternoon at 5! It's at the library. Have fun!"
With that, she danced out of the room.
He laughed as he set his daughter on his shoulders.
Barbatos: "Come on. Let's go find my sling! ... AaAaaAaaAAhhh!!!"
Elaina: "What!? What's wrong!?"
Elaina poked her head around the corner.
Barbatos: "Oh, N-nothing...."
Barbatos winces.
Elaina: "Pulled your hair, did she?"
Barbatos: "Y-yes...."
Elaina: "Yeah, she does that when she gets excited. Uuh, she's got a few strands in her hands by the way"
Elaina laughed as she quickly disappeared down the hall before he changed his mind.
Barbatos: "Well, my little one, it looks like it's just the two of us for the weekend! Are you excited for your play date?"
He asked his daughter, who just smiled at him and giggled. Making the grabby hands gesture.
"I'll take that as a yes!" He grinned.
