It had been hours since Elaina and Michael had disappeared into the garden. Barbatos felt something rip inside of him while she was gone. He felt agonizing pain throughout her absence. The connection they had made it impossible not to feel one another's pain and he could tell she was hurting. He knew in his heart that Michael had told her everything. 'She must hate me, how could she not?' He hid away in his room and tried to drink the sorrows away, he drank so much demonus his mind started to swirl. He wanted to forget about everything but the more he drank, the more he found himself thinking about her. He thought he felt a tingle of hope in his chest, but it must have just been the alcohol. She wouldn't want him anymore.

-----

Elaina felt a sharp pain in her heart as she made her way to find Barbatos. She staggered a little and tried to prop herself up against a wall as she held her chest. A maid rushed to her side to make sure she was okay and helped her up. She'd never felt that type of pain before and then she remembered her connection to Barbatos! "Have you seen Barbatos!?" She asked frantically, realizing something was wrong. "Yes milady. I saw him enter his quarters a few hours ago. I don't think he's left since." The maid said as she straightened Elaina out. "Thanks!!!" Elaina ran in the direction of his quarters. 'What is he doing??' She worried. So many thoughts went through her head. She had to get to him and soon...

-----

The pain in his chest subsided but the pain in the rest of him still remained. He was laying in his bed mumbling to himself as he looked through various photos Elaina had taken on his D.D.D. She often stole his phone, especially while he was teaching Luke to bake. She'd take plenty of candid photos. He and Luke were covered in flour, him frosting cupcakes, them eating the pastries and cakes. One of her favorites was a photo of Barbatos with a mouth full of cake, looking rather caught off guard. He thought of deleting it but after seeing how much it made her smile, he couldn't bare to. He laughed quietly to himself, staring at the picture.

He continued to swipe through the photos until he found one she had taken of them together in the courtyard at RAD. They looked so happy, both smiling at the camera. He realized he looked happier in that picture than he ever had in his long life. He studied his smile. Bigger and brighter than ever before. He sighed heavily and threw his phone on the ground, grumbling nonsense. 'I can't believe I went from trying to avoid her to falling in love with her in such a short time, too fast, way too fast. I should have followed my instincts, saved myself from getting hurt.' His heart broke and he began to weep.

-----

Elaina called Barbatos on her way to him but he wouldn't answer his D.D.D. she began to worry more and more, letting her mind wander. The pain in her chest was still present. She initially wanted to ask him about his past and why he didn't tell her sooner but right now all she wanted was to be sure he was okay. Clearly, something was wrong. 'Did he think the worst about today? Did he know my father was going to tell me about him? He seemed like he wanted to tell me something earlier. That must have been it.' She had to let him know it wasn't his fault and he was different now... She rounded the corner to his room and lifted her hand to the door to knock when she heard whimpering coming from inside. Her heart sank, he was crying.

-----

Barbatos wiped the tears from his eyes, he thought he heard something on the other side of the door. He tried to turn his body around to look but his head began to spin even more from the demonus. He took a deep breath and shifted on his side slowly to see a shadow under the crack of the door. "Who's there?" He croaked. "Batey... Please open the door!" Elaina's beautiful voice filled his ears and He sat up in alarm. He grasped his head and groaned as he sat up too fast. "Lainey..." He whispered sadly to himself. "GO AWAY!" he found himself yelling. He didn't want her to see him like this. He didn't want her to pity him. He didn't want to get his heart broken. 'She's probably here to tell me she hates me. She doesn't want me anymore. I'm a monster.' He assumed. "Batey, please! Let me in. I want to see you!" She pleaded. "No, you don't. He told you didn't he? You hate me... Don't you?" He hiccuped. Hearing him in such a state made her sad, she could tell he was drinking. He only drank when he was upset. "Yes. He told me everything, but no, I don't hate you! I could never hate you, Batey. I love you!" She affirmed. Barbatos's eyes widened at her proclamation. He was struck with a sudden want, to have her in his arms this instant. He ran to the door and pulled Elaina inside.
