Princess

A week had gone by since the wedding and the newlyweds were days away from the birth of their first child. The honeymoon would have to wait, but they didn't mind. Barbatos had been preparing for the baby to arrive at any time, and Diavolo had relieved him of all duties for the time being. This way they could enjoy their time together as a family.

Everyone has been so giving after the wedding. Elaina's family from the celestial Realm had gifted her with a beautiful crib with a cloud mobile that played a soft lullaby played in the Celestial Realm. After all since Elaina would be living in Devildom, the little princess would need something from her mother's home world.

The brothers had gifted them with a rocker for Elaina to rock the baby to sleep and a baby sling for Barbatos. As much as he wanted to deny it, there was no doubt that this baby was going to be spoiled rotten by him (and let's face it, he's going to take her everywhere!). Diavolo also gave the little princess a gift. "It may take her a few years to grow into, but every princess deserves a tiara." He smiled as he presented a beautiful silver crown to the couple. Both Elaina and Barbatos felt rather overwhelmed with such a beautiful, expensive gift but of course, they would never hurt Diavolo"s feelings. Especially since they decided to make him her godfather. Let's just say, he got way too excited.

Barbatos was jolted out of his sleep by Elaina. She was whining something awful! "Barbatos! Its time! I'm having c-contractions-- AAAAHH..!!" She yelled, clutching the bedside table. Barbatos jumped up instantly and was by her side, calling the midwife. Soon the whole palace was awake, as well as the brothers. Everyone eagerly waited.

"You're doing great, my love! Just a little more. Just breathe." Barbatos coached. "Shut... UP!!" Elaina growled as she pulled Barbatos's collar. His eyes widened and he put his hands up in defeat. "Alright, I'm sorry!" He chuckled softly, hiding his amusement from her. If she saw the smile on his face, she would have probably murdered him.

Elaina had been in labor for several long hours. Barbatos stayed by her side every minute of the way. He was there through the screaming, crying, and clawing. Elaina was pretty physical toward him but he didn't mind. As long as he could distract her from the pain, he was fine. She wasn't exactly the strongest, even in this state. She was mean though. "Barbatos!! I hate you! You did this to me! I can't wait to show you how bad this hurts!" She yelled. "Wait, h-how do you plan on doing that?" Barbatos asked nervously. "Ooooooh, just...you...Wait!" She mumbled, earning a small gulp from her husband.

8:23 AM October 18th

A loud cry came from the other side of the door, jolting Lucifer and the others awake. It was the cry of a newborn being brought into the world.

The midwife and her assistant took the little girl to clean her up. Elaina reached out for her, but Barbatos held her back. "Elaina, let them clean her. They'll bring her right back." He said consoling her. In all honesty, he had to hold back from taking his girl out of their arms himself. "B-but... I want her. She's my baby." She cried softly. She was exhausted and a bit emotional, as she should be after so many hours in labor.

They brought the baby back after a few minutes and placed her gently in Elaina's arms. She was just lovely. Slightly tanned skin like Elaina, but everything else just screamed Barbatos. There would be no denying that he was her father. Except maybe the pair of little white, feathery wings that sat right in the middle of her back. "Look at her Batey! She's so beautiful." She yawned. "I agree. She is the most precious child I have ever seen. Perfect, just like her mother." He grinned.

"What do we name her?" Elaina asked tiredly. Barbatos had a name in mind, but he wasn't sure how she would feel about it. She was too tired to think clearly, so he wondered if they should wait to suggest names. "Lainey, you're too tired to think clearly. We should wait until you are better rested to name her." "No!! She's here now! I want to name her! She needs a name!" She yelled. Another small chuckle left Barbatos's lips. It was just like Elaina to be stubborn like this. "Well, how about Wendy? After Wendy Darling from the human world novel Peter and Wendy?" He suggested.

Elaina pondered the idea of the name Wendy. She had read the novel in a human world literature class at RAD. It was a really sweet book and she liked it a lot. She knew Barbatos was a fan of the novel as well. He had an original copy in his personal library and actually lent her his for the class. "Wendy... Wendyyy... I-I like it." She cooed happily as she started to drift to sleep. Barbatos scooped his daughter up and rocked her to sleep as her mother slept peacefully. "Wendy Darling. You sweet little girl. You will be so loved." He beamed as he kissed her little nose.
