DIAVOLO'S POV

As everything happened, I grabbed Elaina. I knew we needed to get out while we still had the chance. Barbatos was gone. He was now being controlled by my father. The attack on the castle was heavy. He had more followers then I had originally anticipated. I had underestimated him and now we were on the run. We found a safe place for the time being. The little ones were crying and screaming. I had to help calm them down before they found us. I scooped up Hazel, who had taken a liking to me, and Elaina took care of Wendy. "Where daddy?" Wendy sniffled. "Daddy is..." Elaina was trying to find something to say. "Daddy is playing a game. He's pretending to be bad." I tried to help. "Daddy no bad! Daddy good!" Wendy yelled. "Shhhhh, you're right! Daddy is good but like Uncle Diavolo said, he's pretending. It will be okay my little dew drop." Elaina whispered soothingly to her daughter as she clutched onto her.

"My Lord! We heard what was happening! Are you alright?" I jumped a little. I thought we had been found but it was Brigette and Victor, my two most loyal servants besides Barbatos of course. "Yes! I am fine. We are all alright." I immediately regretted saying that as I heard Elaina start to sob. Of course she wasn't alright. She was terrified and heartbroken. "What do we do?" She sniffed. Everyone was looking to me. I was their leader and it was time for me to step up as one. It was time for me to get serious and put fun-loving Diavolo on the bench.

I laid out a plan and filled everyone in. "Brigette, Victor... I want you to escape through the tunnel in the library. Take Elaina and the girls with you and go to the hideaway. You know the one." He nodded to Victor. "We will, my lord. Some servants have already escaped through the tunnels. They weren't being followed." Victor explained. "Good. After you are all through I will seal the tunnels. The only way in or out will be at the hideaway point. They cannot follow you and you will be safe. Not even my father can get there." Everyone nodded in agreement. "Will you be okay?" Elaina asked. I couldn't help but chuckle. She was always one to worry about others even in the face of danger. "Yes, we will be fine." I assured her. The brothers and myself would stay behind and try to stop my father and get Aurelia back. Some of the guards in the castle still followed me and I had a very small army of demons beside me, including the seven brothers, who had come down after my father had been imprisoned. He underestimated their strength.

It was time to get the plan underway. There was no time to get things together for the girls. We needed to act now. We quietly made our way to the library and found the passage that would be Elaina's way out. Victor went down the steps first to make sure it was still safe and Brigette followed with Wendy. Elaina started to enter the doorway with Hazel when we heard shouting coming  down the hall. They were coming! "Elaina, go now!" I yelled. The door burst open as Barbatos led the charge. Elaina looked at her partner and froze. He didn't hesitate to take down Asmodeus and Leviathan. Mammon and Belphegor jumped in next but were not match for Barbatos. He was strong. Elaina looked to me, then Hazel, then the passage door. Victor had come back up to fetch Elaina and the baby but I didn't expect what happened next. Elaina shoved Hazel in Victor's arms and closed the passage door, leaving herself behind to fight with us. Tears were streaming down her face as she realized she had just been separated from her children without a goodbye and that her husband had lost his own mind. She gave a good fight. She didn't hesitate to try to knock some sense into Barbatos.

She surprisingly handled herself way better than I thought, but failed. Just like we all did. We weren't expecting this and we weren't ready. Barbatos held Elaina roughly by the arm, and led us down to the dungeons. He was pretty pissed off. She had managed to scratch his face pretty well. He was bleeding a bit. The rest of us were being forced down to the dungeons by the guards that followed my father. We tried to make a break for it, to overpower them again but we were all just so tired. We had lost for now, but I wasn't finished yet and neither was my crew.

We were separated into three different cells. Lucifer and myself were in one cell, the remaining brothers in another, and Elaina was all alone. Barbatos took no pity on her as he shoved her into the darkest hole. "Barbatos, please don't do this! Fight it. I know you can. Fight this! Remember who you are!" Elaina pleaded. "Do I know you?" I didn't expect that and neither did she. My father's magic was strong! He had complete control over Barbatos now. It made sense though, if Barbatos knew what he was doing, if he knew he was throwing his soulmate into the dungeon, he would fight it. "Batey..." She cried. "My name is Barbatos, you insolent bitch!" He spat. Elaina let out a choked cry. "Elaina, don't waste your breath." Mammon scoffed. "He doesn't know jack anymore. He's just a shell." Mammon was right. There was no point anymore. In that moment, I wished I could have held her. I wished she wasn't alone in there, but I knew what's what my father had wanted. He wanted her to suffer. She didn't belong here, in his opinion, and if she wanted to be in Hell so badly, he was make sure she would feel like it.

Epilogue:

"My king, some servants got away through a secret passage. The prince sealed it off and we cannot follow. The children got away." A guard reported to Zeb. "And the wife?" He asked. "She is in the dungeon with the others." The guard confirmed. "Excellent. With the mother in custody, I have no doubt we will find the children. All non-demons and half breeds must not leave Devildom alive. There will be no unification of the three realms under my reign. Everything Diavolo has built will crumble and I will be victorious!"
