Elaina went back to the House of Lamentation after her classes to find that the prince and Barbatos were joining them for dinner and that Barbatos would be taking over for her cooking duty, which came as both a relief and an annoyance. Was it because he wanted to cook or was it because he felt like he needed to? She didn't know but she was going to find out. "Hello..." Elaina greeted as she entered the kitchen. "Oh! Elaina, how are you feeling?" Barbatos asked calmly. "Terrible. Thank you for asking." She whined. Barbatos studied her for a moment before wrapping his arm around her waist from behind. "I love you." He whispered in her ear, giving her goosebumps. "Why are you cooking tonight? It was supposed to be my night to cook. Did I really make that bad of an impression on you today?" Elaina moaned. "No. Elaina, it is not about what happened in class today, well a little, but not about you burning everything. I feel bad about how strict I was with you. I can not show you any favoritism in school, but I can now and you seemed upset so I asked Lucifer if I could help you tonight. "So I'm still cooking?" She groaned. "W-with you?" Barbatos laughed "Yes. With me. We will do it together. Cooking 101, 1 on 1." He winked.

Barbatos pulled a cute frilly apron out of his pocket and handed it to Elaina. "Here, I bought this for you! I saw it in the market when I went out for ingredients. I figured since you would be cooking every Wednesday and Friday for the next few months you could use it. I am making it mandatory that everyone buys one, so you are one step ahead." He smiled. Elaina inspected the little apron. It wrapped around like a dress and was a soft pink. The top was shaped like a heart with lacey halter straps and the bottom looked like a skirt with two pockets and frills at the bottom. It was extremely cute. Barbatos did a great job picking it out whether he just wanted to see her in it or just because it was very much Elaina's style. She loved it and excitedly put it on. "Thank you! It's so cute!" She kissed him on the cheek lovingly as he pulled her in for a tight hug. "Now! Let's get started."

"No, No! That is wrong. Do not cut like that! You will cut your fingers off!" .....

"Elaina, that is too much salt. That is a tablespoon, not a teaspoon!" .....

"Elaina! Stop!! What are you doing!? Do not add that yet! Wait for the water to boil." .....

"Elaina, did you just burn yourself? I told you to be careful! Turn down the heat. It is too high!"

"STOP! JUST SHUT UP!! I'M DONE!" Elaina snapped as she threw her hands up in defeat. Barbatos had been badgering her about everything she did while trying to cook. He was trying his best to help, but he was so demanding. She was new to cooking. She felt like she was being judged rather than being taught. She threw her apron in Barbatos's face and stormed out of the kitchen grumbling to herself as she passed Lucifer, who was coming to investigate all of the yelling.

"I'd say that went well!" He jested. Barbatos just pinched the bridge of his nose and shook his head. "I was just trying to help..." He sighed. "Yeeeah, you did great!" Lucifer quipped as he patted Barbatos's shoulder. "You don't get that way with your other students do you?" He laughed. "No, I do not... I feel terrible." Barbatos frowned. "Listen B, I know how you get sometimes, especially in the kitchen, and I know that people can be hardest on the ones they love most. Trust me, I deal with 7 of them every day, but Elaina won't respond to being yelled at. She needs encouragement. I found that she learns better that way. You need to have patience... You know, she wanted to take this class to learn to cook, to impress you. She didn't realize you were the teacher." Barbatos looked at Lucifer, horrified. He didn't realize that all the times she didn't help in the kitchen with him and Luke was because she couldn't cook. "I-I had no idea... I am such an imbecile!"

Elaina sat in her room trying not to cry. It wasn't like she wasn't used to being yelled at. She wasn't exactly a perfect child back home and currently living with the brothers, getting in trouble with Lucifer all the time. It just hit harder coming from Barbatos, especially since things have been going so well between them lately. She was stupid for thinking it would be a good idea to take that class, even if she did well, she doubted it would be enough to impress Barbatos. Before she knew it tears were falling down her face.

There was a soft knock on the door. "I'm not in the mood for company right now. Please leave." She sniffled. The door creaked open slightly. "Elaina, I am sorry for the way I behaved..." Barbatos apologized peaking in from the other side of the door. "Barbatos, not now. I don't want to talk, I want to be left alone!" She fumed. "I can tell that is not what you really want. You are upset. You are angry at me for yelling at you. You are angry at yourself for thinking you can not learn to cook." He pointed out as he entered the room and sat next to her on the bed. "But you are wrong about that. You are so bright. I think with the proper instructor, you could be a great cook. I am sorry I gave you such a hard time." He brushed her hair back from in front of her face. "I will teach you, properly this time. I have to learn to keep my attitude in check, I do not want to lose my head in class. Especially toward you. I never want to be that way toward you again." Elaina looked him in the eyes, his sincerity evident. "Give me one last chance?" He begged. "O-okay Batey but if you lose your temper with me again... I-I'm quitting." ... "Deal" Barbatos grinned at her. "Dinner is ready. I made a special dessert just for you. I hid it so Beel does not find it." They both laughed and then he kissed Elaina gingerly, pulling her up from the bed, and leading her to the dining room.
