Let's see how Barbatos is faring with Wendy, shall we?

Barbatos walked down the hallway of the palace toward the kitchen with Wendy inside of the front-facing sling gifted to him by the brothers. It was feeding time! She was finally old enough to start eating some baby food, instead of formula. Barbatos had gone to the store before Elaina had left to pick up some different flavors of baby food.

"Okay, my little buttercup, let's try some sweet potato today!" Barbatos decided as he scanned the shelf for something other than the peas they tried the first day. 'That was a disaster' Barbatos thought as he looked up at the ceiling where there were still remnants of the green puree.

He sat the baby in her highchair and grabbed her birdy spoon. He realized that if he pretended the spoon was flying toward her like a bird, she would open her mouth. If not, she wouldn't cooperate. It was out of his comfort zone but it made her happy. "Okay, little rosebush, open up! Here comes the birdy! Tweet, tweet!!" Barbatos sang as he swerved the spoon around like a bird in flight. He used a voice that made him feel foolish, but it worked wonders in making Wendy smile. Sure, baby talk wasn't his strong suit but as long as she liked it, he would continue to do it as long as they were alone.

Wendy cooed as she saw the spoon coming toward her. She opened her mouth and scarfed the first spoonful down. Barbatos studied her reaction, trying to figure out what she thought. At first, she didn't make any faces. She just sat there and stared at her dad, then a slow smile spread on her face as she drummed happily on the surface of her highchair babbling. "I guess you like this then." Barbatos smiled.
