Part 44: Old Frenemies (1 of 2)

"You wanna do what!?" Tyler shouted.

"Let's go ask Simbi about State 3! She's behind bars. What could she do??"

After discussing it a bit further Tyler agrees. After all she is the only lead we have so far. So we make our way to the super prison in Capital City. Just a few hours from home. On the way in they warn us.

"She's constantly sedated so she can't activate any states. But don't get to close to the bars. She will try to hit you." The guard said.

"Thank you. we'll keep that in mind." Tyler said.

These cells are built to hold state 2 supers. But since Simbi can go S3 she's constantly sedated. Finally we reach her cell.

"Hey Simbi. How's it going?" I asked.

She then replied, "Aaaaw you came all this way to see me? We must have really bonded during that heli' ride back to my palace."

In a sarcastic tone I replied, "Oooh yeah. We became best friends that day. You me and Bor became a Trio. Or maybewe bondedwhile I was kicking your ass in front of all your subjects before you cheated?"
Tyler laughed.

"What do you want?" She asked.

So I said, "What can you tell us about State 3?"

Simbi then got a big smile on her face.

"Why didn't you say so? All you have to do is let your heart reach a dark place... and then keep it there forever."

"What does that mean?" I asked.

So she said, "When the handsome devil next to you fought against me he did so out of anger and hatred possibly even fear and worry. States above that which we are arbitrarily capable of are only reached at breaking points. Emotional breaking points work best. That's why he was able to beat me. You and I broke him. Why the both of us? Anger and hatred for me. Fear and worry over you."

So Tyler then said, "I don't actually remember what happened during our fight. Could you maybe... fill in the blanks?"

Simbi then said, "Sure. Why not? Basically, you went mental. I enjoy a tough fight. But you... you weren't just angry. You were smiling the whole time. It was almost like you were a completely different person. You weren't just protecting her. You were trying to kill me!"
