I'm learning, I'm learning about my EYES

The eyes are the gate way to the soul. There are times when doing my thanksgiving that the Lord shows me how richly blessed I am which always brings me to a standstill for he shows me the simple things I tend to overlook and just thank God for the big things. One of them is eyesight.

The privilege to have eyes, the privilege to see colors, the privilege to have both eyes working. HOW BLESSED IS ONE TO HAVE THEIR EYESIGHT, we tend to take our eyes for granted, this organ was given to behold Gods beauty in creation.

We live in a time of technology, the TV, the internet, these are wonderful avenues of connecting to the world and even in education but somehow the devil has polluted it.

I loved cartoons when I was a child, I mean show me a child who does not like cartoon? I remember when it was the school holidays my siblings and I would wait for my Parents to leave for work and we would fight over the remote just so we can watch Cartoon Network, in those times the cartoon on the paper view channel were in the weekdays from 6am to 12 middays, sure enough we would not miss a day to watch.

Now days the cartoons I find seem to be different. Violence, adult humor, black magic etc just because it's an animated world we think its ok, but what kind of message are we giving our children?

Cartoons, movies, TV series, all these contributes unconsciously to an individual's character especially when you are a child, super heroes drive your imagination for boys and for the girls princesses with happy endings, there are so many movies filled with violence, vulgar language, explicit scenes, the society now learns to accept these movies all under the banner of "entertainment"

We find ourselves wanting to be like these actors or actress, how they talk how they dress even copying lines and catch phrases just to use in everyday language, our personality and character shaped by people who live in a make belief world and as a child being exposed to this at an early age is dangerous because they pick up on things so easily.

Horror movies, I thank God I never liked them as a child and even now, that's one genre that I can't stand. We don't realize but whatever we watch it imparts in our life, it feeds our flesh our lust and yes our pride. Whatever we watch doesn't end when they roll the credits it continues to work in our subconscious mind later being portrayed in our actions.

Mathew 6:22 The lamp of the body is the EYE, if therefore your eye is good your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness, if therefore the light that is in you is darkness, HOW GREAT IS THAT DARKNESS. Those words were spoken by Jesus Christ and he knew the importance of guarding your eyes. That last sentence really shook me. It's as if there is something that happens in the spiritual realm like a blind that falls in front of our eyes, it's frightening!!

Proverb 20:12 The hearing ear and SEEING EYE. The Lord has made them both

Seeing that the Lord God is Holy and that created the Eyes it's only fitting to say that the things we watch must be Holy, we must take ownership of our eyes and make a stand on only allowing things that are pure and righteous. It is hard especially when it comes to entertainment but we must value our eyes and realize it's a serious issue here, that devil has used this avenue to distract us from spending time with God.

David said in Psalms 101:3 I will set nothing wicked before my eyes. He knew the seriousness of keeping his eyes pure, on a separate occasion when David beheld Bathsheba he later committed adultery with her, you see it took only David to SEE her, he could have walked away but HE KEPT WATCHING thus ending in the death of Uraiah by his hands

We must ask God for discernment on the things we watch and we must make a decision to discipline our eyes for what we watch will eventually play out in our THOUGHTS, DECISIONS and soon in our ACTIONS.
