I'm learning, I'm learning about Rebellion
REBELLION IS DANGEROUS!!!
The first sin ever to take place is Pride, Lucifer before he led the greatest rebellion of all time began with pride. Pride is so dangerous because you don't realize the moment you have it, it completely blinds you where by you are right and everything else is wrong. That it's about you and no one else, it is beyond selfish. It is unteachable and gives birth to so many ungodly things.
Pride births rebellion and stubbornness and every other form of evil.
1 Samuel 15:22-23".. behold, to obey is better than sacrifice..." For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry"
In my time at "the learning church", I learnt the dangers of rebellion. The church had a land issues with the headquarters of that particular denomination and for years they have been battling the right to the land. They both believed that they were right and because of this they began to clash. During the years of the debacle "the learning church" began to pull away from the denomination, they didn't participate in programs for the conferences and other events soon they decided to take the headquarters to court.
"The learning church" is very dear to me because this is the church the Lord had planted me after he rescued me from the 7 years in the wilderness. At first I wondered why the lord would put me there, with all the trials and difficulties but God had a plan and the plan was to be in an environment where he could fast track my spiritual growth.
Like everything the beginning is always sweet, I guess I was so hungry for God that I didn't see the things which were wrong, but soon I saw. The first time I questioned the church was when I asked one of the leaders if we could join a sister church for their youth fellowship. Unfortunately, she said we couldn't because The pastors wanted the youth to learn in our own circle and not with other churches because they might share a different doctrine (yet this was the sister church), Back then I agreed but now I realized we are of the same body of Christ and that we should have time to fellowship with others especially if we are a sister church.
The moment it was announced from the pulpit that the learning church was to take the headquarters to court. My father and mother knew this was wrong and decided not to attend the church anymore because it was biblical
1 Corinthians 6: 1, 5-7 Dare any of you have a matter against another, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints?... I say this to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you, not even one, who will be able to judge between his brethren? But brothers goes to law against brothers, and that before unbelievers! Now therefore, it is already an utter failure for you that you go to law against one another. Why do you rather accept wrong? Why do you rather let yourselves be cheated?"
Even if you are right as a Christian you NEVER take another to court, the matter can be solved outside the system. Because of this matter, the learning church pulled out of the denomination and is now officially a church of it's own because the headquarters did not comply with their demands.
The learning church pastor believes he is in the right, he has all the legal documents and evidence but the word of God is clear in 1 Peter 3: 17 "For it is better if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil." Regardless the learning church being right, SUBMISSION to a higher authority is PARAMOUNT. The pastor need not to worry or prove that they are in the right, God see's everything he is our vindicator and eventually the truth would come out. All he needed to do was to yield and submit.
Rebellion causes division. The learning church is no longer part of the denomination but is now an independent church. I have seen the spirit of division trickle down to the members of the church and have sadly witnessed it. I had a group of young girls who wanted to have more than just a meet up, they wanted a time of fellowship with the word and prayer and so we decided to have these done on Tuesdays and each girl would host. Sadly, the youth leaders did not like the idea and spoke to one of the girl's father and soon she was told not to attend any fellowship or have any contact with me or step foot in my house, to the extreme of not sitting together in the church. Family member not talking to each other, little groups and cliques were made. Rebellion causes division.
King Saul is an excellent example of rebellion; he was instructed by the Lord through the prophet Samuel to utterly destroy the Amalekites including every life stock. King Saul spared, King Agag and the best of the sheep, oxen's, the fatlings the lambs, and all that was good and so because of his rejection of the word of the Lord, the Lord rejected him. There is no compromise with obedience, once God clearly gives his instruction it must be fulfilled, regardless there is no compromise.
Rebellion goes directly against the Holy Spirit, it quenches and causes grief. It is the mercy and the grace of God that keeps the Holy Spirit in tact with the individual. Countless times God gives a chance for change but if there is no true repentance than the Holy Spirit will have no option but to leave, the gentleman that he is cannot dwell in a vessel that directly doesn't want anything to do with him.
1 Samuel 16:14 "But the spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and a distressing spirit of the Lord troubled him." That was what had happened to Saul.Saul suffered at the cost of his rebellion the consequence for disobedience was the loss of his kingdom, stripped away and given to someone better than him. To rebel against God through disobedience is to directly say "I don't need you God" it defies him. Sadly, for Saul David was that better person, in doing the will of God the Lord has great plans for us all, if only we heed and obey if not he will find someone better than us but God gives us the opportunity to step up by free will and if we rebel he will find someone else.
Once the Holy Spirit leaves, he leaves with his goodness, fruits and wisdom. Proverbs 9:10 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom" to not fear the Lord or basically obey him is to be selfish, to have things done my way automatically makes me function in my own wisdom, my own thoughts and opinion. James 3:14-15 "But if you have BITTER ENVY and SELFSEEKING in your hearts; do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is EARTHLY SENSUAL, DEMONIC." How frightening it will be to lose the Holy Spirit, pride blinds us from the truth and we begin to believe our own way is right yet we are functioning from a different spirit. Now that scares me!!
Here is a simple equation
Pride = rebellion (witchcraft) = stubbornness (idolatry) = earthly, sensual, demonic wisdom.
Walking in obedience to God will result in him giving us his wisdom. James 3: 17 "But the wisdom from above, is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy." Willing to yield, this mean even if you are wrong you are willing to give into the other party even if it means suffering. That is love to yield rather than put up a fight or cause division. James 3:18 "Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace." I continue to pray for my "learning church" asking God to intervene on that matter and that one day that church will make peace with the headquarters and will unite with the denomination and become one. I know that my God is powerful to save.
The Body of Christ needs to pray for each other and continue to be rooted in the Lord Jesus so that the devil doesn't destroy us through petty issues. That we will be operating with the Holy Spirit and not our earthly wisdom, that it will learn to yield even when it doesn't feel right. And most importantly be forgiving.
The act of rebellion is an act of violence even though there is no blood shed, it goes to war with the truth means it goes to war with God. To an extent that rebellion is the same as practicing witchcraft and the end results are frightening and sad. Just take a look at Lucifer.
