I'm learning, I'm learning about Evangelism

Every believer has been instructed by the Lord Jesus to go and preach the Gospel to every creature. This is called the great commission. Being a believer I never really took to heart, the importance of sharing the gospel. I felt that is was the duty of the missionaries nor did I have a brokenness for the lost.

Walking deeper with God, seeking his face and spending time in his presence of prayer did I finally have a brokenness and compassion for the lost. I saw how faithful and loving my God was to me in being able to rescue me from my sin and to give me freedom, joy and love that I wanted everyone to know God.

My first ever evangelism was with the youth of Calvary temple, we had set days for fasting and prayer specifically for the time we would go out to the streets of Suva, seeking God for his will, to give us the boldness and courage to approach people, to give us correct words.

Acts 3:8 "but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witness to me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

I learnt that we need the infilling of the Holy Spirit to be able to do the work of God, he equips us, he gives us the boldness and he brings scripture into remembrance. John 14:26 "But the helper the Holy Spirit, whom the father will send in my Name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things I said to you". All we need to be is a vessel of honor ready to be used for his calling and purpose.

And so the whole week I prepared, I met up with a few of the ladies to intercede at the altar for all who were going to take the gospel that the Lord would cover us and protect us. That he would bring the souls that we should minister to.

On the day to evangelize some of us ladies decided to meet earlier to pray once more before we would head down, corporately then individually at the altar. We headed down town Suva in our Church van, I was excited and was praying under my breath as we neared our destination. We parked opposite Mac Donald's to let the first group of, as I got off to let those who were seated next to me out the vehicle, to my surprise I saw my ex's mother car (the one who called me rubbish) I stared at it long and wondered would she and I meet somewhere on the streets, I felt intimidated and knew if we did meet she would have a go at me.

I got back in the van and looked around to see if she was anywhere but she was nowhere to be seen. I soon forgot about it and the excitement came when we reached our spot of service. I had teamed up with one of my dear girlfriend Janet whom I usually prayed at the altar. God is so good he sent the young ladies to us to minister, and Janet would intercede while I would share the gospel.

How wonderful God had brought a drunk pregnant lady to us, we listened to all her slurring of complaints about her boyfriend soon she began pouring her heart out, whereby she mentioned about her relationship with her sibling which was not good with fights and disunity. Even her children. We shared about Jesus and reminded her that all in this world will remain all our degrees, cars, money etc and that while we are on earth we have a choice to spend eternity either in heaven or hell.

She began to talk more and in doing so she revealed that she was a Christian and that she was going through a rough time. I asked her if she would like us to pray for her right there and there in the streets, at first she was ashamed but soon she said yes please. we held hands her Janet and I and we began to pray and call on the name of Jesu to touch her. We covered her family and her children and whatever the Holy Spirit led for us to pray bout. She was really thankful. God is so good. Even today I still continue to pray for her knowing that God is more than able to meet her.

It was amazing God had brought more young ladies who were all Christians and knew the truth. Fiji being a Christian Country every house hold has been brought up with the word of God. I praise the Lord that those that he brought to us were those who needed encouragement and reminded that Jesus still loved them no matter what they did and that he was waiting for them to respond. To remind them that all these material things will remain behind when we die and that the most important thing is our salvation whether we spend eternity with our King Jesus or forever be separated from him.
