I'm learning, I'm learning about Worship
Worship has become a new concept to me, for years I believed that worship was a state of singing to God, songs of Praise which were fast clapping and waving our hands in the air and then a time of slow songs to close our eyes and really focus on God trying to picture him and that a preacher would speak and that was it. I believed for a long time that worship was meant and only be done in the church.
I am a Christian and like many other Christian I was a Luke warm one. We go to church attend the different cells, prayer meeting, participate in the Sunday school, do dances. But my life didn't reflect true worship.
Colossians 1:16-17 "For by him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or power. All things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things consist." The Lord God almighty is above all else, none above him none is beside him and because he is a great being we are to worship him.
I'm learning that our everyday life is an act of worship. It is far more than going to a Sunday service but a complete transformation of dying to the flesh and living in total submission to the Holy spirit, I struggled with this quite some time, I was willing to make God the master of my life but only in some certain areas. Worship is an act of complete surrender letting God take all that is and without reaching to take it back, letting go of all failures the past and its hurts and baggage. It is letting go of the things of the world, its pride and lifestyle to embrace the new and holy lifestyle through Jesus Christ.
Romans 12:1"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service." that is true worship living a Holy life, being watchful in the things that we set before our eyes, the things that we listen to, the thing that we eat, the places that we go, the people that we associate with. Worship is the words that is coming out of our mouths, is it encouraging and uplifting. The thoughts that we have are they are to be pure good and loving, it is being obedient to the word of God.
Our lives are meant to reflect Christ so that when unbelievers see the way we behave the will see the Power of the Lord God almighty, they will be convinced that there is a God. I remember a Pastor make a powerful statement "we may be the only bible or Jesus that the unbelievers may see" But if we live a lukewarm life then we become a mockery of the gospel and it makes it harder for the unbelievers to come to Christ. Our actions speak the loudest it is the best testament of who God is.
Living a life of holiness is an act of worship to God 2 Corinthians 2:15-16 "For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing" what a beautiful sight, when we live a holy life we give off this beautiful fragrance to God almighty, we become a living sacrifice, imagine that we can't give any riches or presents that will be accepting or good enough for God only our life. This is God almighty he is the God of the whole universe he created everything what else can we offer him for all the things he has done? Nothing, we seriously cannot give him any material thing that can honor him but the most beautiful present, honorable and priceless gift is our lives in complete obedience walking in holiness. That is attractive to God.
