"Looks like you got a good idea on how everything goes." I said closing the folder and putting it back in my bag. We we're at Olive Garden, one of my favorite places to eat, and we just finished going over all the questions and so far it seems like he's pretty legit about how things are going to go. "Once again I'm sorry about Josh. Josh and I are just at a difficult spot right now."
"You don't have to say sorry Liyah." He said starring at me, like he has been for a while now.
"Why are you looking at me?"
"Cause I know someone as beautiful and successful as you shouldn't have to settle for someone like that."
"We're not together-"
"I know that, but he makes you weak. I know I did what I did too but we were young. I'm not saying it was right for you to sleep with another girl's boyfriend-"
"Okay Jalen where are you getting at with this conversation, really? Don't you think I know that already, I'm well aware of my mistakes, I'm the one that made them."
"Give me another chance Liyah, I was young that shouldn't count. Josh was a grown man then and look how he did you."
"Okay Jalen I know you aren't all there in the mind due to past experiences, but what the hell have you been on the past few months to fix your mouth and say something like that to me? When you came that day and you two got in that fight, you weren't acting so 'grown' either."
"Point taken."
"I don't got time for this." I grabbed my bag walking away from the table, putting on my coat. I stood out in the front of the resturant looking at my phone, it's been an hour and a half and I seen where the last message was sent 20 minutes ago from Josh. It's great to know he was still angry for the past hour and ten minutes.
"Liyah, I'm sorry." Jalen said walking out the resturant, standing in front of me. "I just see how hurt you've been, all these years I seen how you were just single."
"You don't have to be in a relationship to be happy. I was perfectly fine the way things were going. As we all know, I started having friends with benefits once you broke my heart. Before Josh came back, I had a friend or two I'd call when I needed too. I was perfectly fine not in a relationship, I still am. I don't need not one of you fuckers to make me feel happy."
"But at a point you'll get tired of just being someone's side chick or just being with someone you just consider a friend. You'll want someone all to yourself at somepoint."
"What do you know about wanting one person Jalen?"
"I know because that's how I feel now."
"Look, I don't know how you feel or whatever weird phases your going through, but just like I told Josh. You are a famous athlete, a basketball player at that. You do not want one person." I said laughing and shaking my head. "You guys want anything that the industry could throw at you right now."
"You're so stubborn, why won't you get that I want you and just you Liyah."
"Cause I don't want you, and I just told you why. Like why can't you just leave me alone?"
"Fine." He said and we both walked back over to his car. On the drive back, we said nothing, I looked out the window the whole drive back, and everything was just playing in my mind. The past few weeks have been a mess, especially with Josh finding out about Lily, and with him saying he wants to be with me. Everything is an emotional roller coaster with Josh, and I hated thinking about it. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah I'm okay."
"Hey listen to me, don't be so hard on yourself."
"That's easy for you to say." I said holding back my tears. I felt his hand rest on my shoulder and I moved it. "Just drive me home."
After 20 minutes of awkward silence, we finally arrived back to my building. Jalen insisted that he walked me up to my apartment, even though I didn't want him too, I agreed so he could shut up.
"Thanks for the semi-good time I guess." I said walking onto the elevator, watching the doors close. Jalen was standing to my right, and surprisingly he didn't try anything. He didn't jump down my throat or nothing.
"Semi-good? It was the best date you ever had."
"Date?" I said letting out a loud laugh. "That's gotta be the funniest thing you said all night, but this wasn't a date obviously."
"Well, thought I'd give it a try." He said laughing and looked over at me with a smirk on his face. The elevator doors opened and there was a reporter standing right at the doors, just waiting for me.
"Liyah Brown! Answer a few questions for me?"
"Get out my face, what questions haven't I answered already?" I was tired of these reporters, that's the only negative about being famous. With the situation regaurding Josh and I, they've just been everywhere.
"Are you cheating on Joshua Sanders with Jalen Brooks?"
"Who even said I was with Josh?" I laughed out and walked down the hall to my loft. It was obviously one of those reporters who made stories up, never got the right information and turned in anything just to get a paycheck. "I will throw you over my balcony if you don't get the fuck out my hallway."
"Is that a threat?"
"It's a promise, or take it anyway you would like too." I said turning around to stare at this bitch ass reporter, but then she just stormed onto the elevator typing on her phone. I could imagine what I'll be reading about myself within the next few hours.
"Don't they suck?"
"Yeah you took the words right out my mouth." I said as I opened the door and looked up at Jalen. "Thanks again."
"No problem," He said smiling and looking into my eyes. It felt nice, but Jalen wasn't Josh. Unfortunetely Josh made me feel everything I didn't wanna feel for his ass, but I can't help it, I'm trying to control it, I just want to try and stay on my own right now. "If you ever need anyone to talk to don't be afraid to call me. Especially all you're dealing with."
"I'll keep that in mind." Then I felt his arms wrap around me and he pulled me into a tight hug. I hugged him back, maybe he needed one. "Now get out my space."
"Too long?"
"Too long." I said as he finally let go of me. By the look of his face I could tell he didn't want too.
"Good night Liyah." He said smiling and walking on down the hallway. I went inside and kicked my heels off, tying my hair up and sighing.
"Long fucking night." I said to myself as I took my coat off, and slid off my jeans. Once I was in the house that was it, the pretty comes off and my bed screams my name. I put on a big T-Shirt and jumped face down on my bed. "Oh how I miss you bed." I said as I grabbed the covers, but the little burst of happiness didn't last too long, my phone began to ring like mad, can I ever get a break?
"What Josh?"
