t h i r t e e n.  fireflies

'Toh Jugnu? How was everything tonight?' Anisha asked the tired and yet excited gurl.

They were done with the fireworks, and were currently dining together on the huge dining table set out in the dining room. The spread on the table was lavish too, with all kind of possible eateries and sweets, and Jugnu hadn't even heard of so many items in her life.

All she knew was staple and home cooked food which either Jaana or Pranati made for her. And she wasn't complaining, but this was way better than those truthfully.

Maan, Armaan and his family sat across, Riya had left to go home for the night and before leaving she had slipped a huge box of chocolates in Jugnu's arms, adoring the kid. Baljeet as usual sat on the head table, head held high in honor and towards her left was Shamsher's family.

Basically, Vardhan, Anisha, Reyansh and Jugnu was told to sit across from Baljeet, towards the other end while Pranati sat besides her and Reyansh, still uncomfortable.

Jugnu felt really special being seated on the other end that way, Pranati on her right, Maan on her left and Baljeet across from her. They had told her that no one sat on the seat, because it was reserved for the first great grandchild of the Khuranas, which was she herself.

'It was so so so beautiful and thrilling.' Jugnu commented, while Pranati filled her plate. 'I've never had so much fun ever.'

Baljeet chuckled, 'This is just the beginning, Jugnu puttar. We have so much catching up to do.' She winked at the girl and Jugnu furrowed her eyebrows.

'How can you catch up 7 years in one month?' She asked rhetorically, focusing on the food in front of her and Pranati looked at the fading faces of the Khuranas and she sighed. Even Reyansh's smile washed off quickly at Jugnu's surreal fact.

'Arrey Jugnu,' Vardhan chuckled lightening the mood, 'Khuranas are very fast, we won't even need a month. Trust me.'

'Haan,' Maan added smiling cheerfully at the girl. 'Dekhna tum, ek mahine ke baad yaha se jaaogi hi nahi.'

While Pranati shifted uncomfortably, everyone else silently observing the kid, Jugnu chuckled, shaking her head. 'Challenge?'

Armaan laughed, 'Arey wah, tum toh abhi se hi bet lagane lag gayi?'

Maan looked at Reyansh and he nodded, and Maan shook hands with the tiny girl. 'Bet!'

'Jugnu...' Pranati whispered, shaking her head slightly.

'But DM, I'm pretty sure I'm going to win.' She winked at her mother and Pranati sighed again, plating her with dal and rice.

'Alright, Nani Maa.' Maan said chirpy, 'We bet that you're going to love it here and want to stay and the bet money is 20 bucks.'

'20 rupees?' Jugnu pointed her hand at Maan, everyone else looking at the laughing kid, 'Itni feeki bet.'

Reyansh couldn't help but chuckle, he leaned towards Pranati, covering his whisper with a smile. 'Bilkul maa pe gayi hai, baat baat pe bet.' He said and Pranati ignored him.

'Maan, ye kya bet hai?' Baljeet taunted Maan, Armaan and Vardhan still chuckling, 'Aarey, paise badhao. Jugnu ki sponsor main.'

'Jugnu, your bets are getting out of hand.' Pranati said sternly, but Jugnu shook her head.

'Killjoy.' Reyansh coughed, and this time Pranati glared at him.

'You said betting for money is bad, DM.' Jugnu reassured Pranati, smiling softly, 'This isn't for money. Chill.'
