f i f t y. back to the future
he stirs in his sleep.
his breathing rapidly increases.
his hand reaches out to hold onto his dying mother.
she was back again, this time she looked more bloodied and scary.
Reyansh was panting, begging, hoping that she would understand him.
he did not kill her. he would never kill her.
his chest felt heavy, his body was numb and he was sweating as he was pulled away by a comforting hand.
"Reyansh?"
Reyansh woke up trembling and scared and found himself back in his bed. He looked at the woman next to him, worried for him and he immediately pulled her in a hug.
she felt so much like home.
"you are okay," Pranati whispered as she calmed him, holding him closer to her warmth. "the doctor said you would get a few more until they die down completely."
Reyansh hardly paid attention to what she said, he simply hugged her and her presence was enough for him to be human again. He was crying, as he held her closer, crying as he appreciates her being there with him.
"Let's get you some warm milk, huh?" Pranati cooed as she kissed Reyansh's forehead, after wiping his sweat buds.
Instead he held her arm, stopping her from leaving.
"I want you." He said, looking at her with puppy eyes that Pranati could hardly refuse. "Please don't go."
She smiled at him, brushing the hair off his forehead.
"I am going nowhere, Rey. I am always here with you."
Reyansh frowned.
"So this is not a dream? You are actually here with me."
It had been a couple of weeks since Pranati had shifted back to Delhi with Jugnu and Reyansh still found it difficult to accept that she was in fact, living with him.
That she was here.
"Yes baby, I am here with you. And I am never leaving."
That helped Reyansh and his fears vanished instantly. Pranati tucked him to sleep, and ran her fingers through his hair as Reyansh held her other hand closer to his beating heart.
"Sleep with me."
Pranati switched the lamp lights and settled back in bed with Reyansh. He pulled her closer and snuggled with his arms around her, as she buried herself in his warmth. Her hand rested on his anxious heart - it always helped calm him down.
And Reyansh went back to sleep again.
He smiled.

"Did you know that there is something going on between the PT sir and the English ma'am. I swear - on my tiffin, they were holding hands!"
Jugnu rolled her eyes and looked at the kids who were gossiping about yet another pair of teachers. It had been a couple of months since she had enrolled in the new school - the prestigious and royal school of Delhi and despite her average scores, she had managed to get a seat. Thanks to her grandmother's influence and more than that, the fact that she topped her previous standard in the finals.
She kept her word.
But, Jugnu noticed that kids would be kids no matter which school you went to. So even though she had changed schools, she was still the outcast. The kids in her school kept whispering around her, they said similar words which their parents repeated and Jugnu found it difficult to maintain a smile every day for her parents.
