Pranati and Reyansh were battling their inner turmoil with the way things were unfolding. Each day brought in more challenges to the duo and they were more entangled with each other than they wanted to admit. While Reyansh kept his feelings to himself, Pranati found the old feelings to resurface and haunt her.

Especially when Reyansh looked at her with those eyes.

The knock on the door got Pranati out of her thoughts, eyeing her kid who slept soundly in her sheets. She was surprised to see Reyansh standing sheepishly, and asked him what he wanted.

"I came here to..." He raised the shirt she gave him and signed at the wardrobe, and Pranati ushered to the side so he could keep the shirt inside. "Wow, Jugnu's asleep rather quickly."

Pranati smiled as she looked at her daughter, sleeping like a log. "It was past her bed time, and she gets way too tired lately." Reyansh neatly kept the shirt inside and watched his daughter, a smile on his face. "The Khuranas' keep her on her toes."

The duo faced each other, Reyansh watching Pranati look prettier when she spoke about her daughter. The happy light in her eyes which reminded him of the yesteryears would shine every time she spoke about Jugnu.

And not just Pranati, even Jugnu lit up with her mother around. He was with the kid for the rest of the day and they played tons of games and ate loads of food. But the moment her mother entered, Jugnu forgot the video games and the snacks. All she did was go hug her mother, forgetting all about them.

Reyansh envied their bond. Why wouldn't he? Jugnu and Pranati had a bond he always longed for. A bond he wanted and prayed for but got silence in return. He hated how pathetic he was for envying a kid, his kid - to get a mother's love and affection.

"You love her a lot don't you?"

Pranati nodded without hesitating, "a lot se bhi zyaada. She is my life, I cannot imagine a second without her." She tilted her head, a babyish grin on her face when she looked over at her kid. "She's not just my daughter, she's my best friend, my family, my entire universe."

They met each other's eyes again, Pranati bit her lip with a silly smile, "I am sorry, I know I sound cheesy."

"No you don't," Reyansh shook his head, eyeing the little girl sleeping under the tucked sheets. "Jugnu deserves all the cheesiness, she's such a sweet kid."

"She hates me being cheesy."

"No she doesn't." Reyansh shrugged, loving how comfortable they were to talk to each other without being awkward. "You know she doesn't, no kid ever gets tired of their mother's affection."

Pranati understood the gravity of his feelings in that one statement. She may have no family at present, but she was grown up with affection and love and that was why she could give her daughter the love she grew up with. Reyansh, however, was raised without a mother and a father who did not care about him.

"DM..." Jugnu muttered in her sleep, shifting uneasily, "there's... there's a zombie..."

The parents looked at their kid with concern. Reyansh, more concerned than Pranati as he immediately sat besides the little girl. He brushed the hair off her face, and tucked her in the sheets.

"You are okay, champ. You fought them all just a couple of hours ago." Reyansh muttered in soft coos as he put the girl back to sleep, assuring and reassuring.

Jugnu sleepily drew closer to Reyansh, getting used to his warmth and his affection. Pranati on the other hand watched them fondly, her hand over her heart and an inadvertent smile on her face.
