"You want my help? Funny."

Reyansh narrowed his gaze. He was an idiot to ask Archit for help but the thought of his daughter was bothering him. It was New Years Eve and he was way behind in the party he planned for Jugnu. Plus with the increasing tension between Pranati, it was getting hard for him to stay sane in that house.

"You know what, this is probably a bad idea."

"Wait!" Archit called out to Reyansh and stopped him before he could leave. "I did not mean it in a sarcastic way."

Reyansh glanced at the man, he often wore formals and looked presentable and smart. Archit had grown to be an amicable gentleman.

Too bad Pranati was still into brooding bad boys.

"You need help from me, for Jugnu's birthday right? Let's do it."

This was like déjà vu all over again.

"I am dating Reyansh."

"Congratulations."

Pranati gulped, trying her best to not lose her calm. It was Archit after all, it was her childhood best friend. They were with each other since they were 5 and they dreamed the same dream, lived the same life. She did not want to lose her friend, her only best friend over a stupid misunderstanding.

"You don't sound happy."

Archit rolled his eyes, ignoring Pranati and writing in his music sheet. He was heartbroken, furious and upset but he did not want to show it to her. It was stupid enough that she was dating the Khurana boy, he didn't want to add to that stupidity.

"Since when do you care about my happiness?" Archit snorted, hurting Pranati by his actions. Trying his best to not take his anger out on her. "Also, I don't care."

"But I do!" Pranati sat across from him, placing her hand on his – stopping him from doing his work. "I haven't told anyone yet, you are the first one, Archie. You are still my best friend..."

"Best friend?" Archit pulled his hand from her hold, "please, don't insult that word, Pree. And what happened to your no dating in college rule? Boys will only be a distraction... I want to tour the world... I don't care about relationships... Was that also a lie?"

Pranati observed her friend, it was true that they had drifted apart lately ever since he called her names. But he was still her best friend and she loved him.

Just not in a way Archit loved her.

"It wasn't a lie, you know me. I didn't want any of this."

"Then why are you dating him? What does he have that I... that no one else did?"

Archit heard his heart break when she smiled in response.

"I don't really know. All I know is that it felt right. And Reyansh is a good guy burdened by the past and silly baseless rumors. Trust me, once you get to know him..."

"I don't want to know him." Archit cut her off, meeting her eyes with anger and disdain. "And I don't want to talk about him. So if you want to ruin your life with likes of him, or feed in the rumors of everyone calling you a slut, then you're welcome-"

Things went too chaotic after that. Reyansh grabbed Archit by his collar and slammed him against the music room wall, appalled at the audacity of the guy to call her names. Pranati was too stunned to react, especially with the way Reyansh held rage in his eyes – matching his with Archit's.
