Dear Pranati,

It's getting difficult to breathe. Its getting harder to live. Without you.

Please come back.

Yours,
Rey

"That is so cool! We almost won all the games, you're awesome Sherkhan." Jugnu who sat on Reyansh' shoulders exclaimed while raising her toys which she won from the stalls. "I loved the basketball game the most. You're so good in it."

"Well, not as good as you in the aiming one. I could never aim as good." Reyansh looked up at the happy kiddo, "you're a pro."

"Well, I am my mother's daughter after all."

"True."

Pranati's heart fluttered in a funny way that day when she saw Jugnu and Reyansh sticking together. They had played games, taken tons of pictures and Jugnu looked upto him for things she couldn't do on her own.

As a mother, Pranati had done all she could to raise her daughter. She was so busy meeting basic needs for them, she knew she hadn't created any fun memories for her daughter. All they had were hardships and hungry nights to their names.

So it made her bitter to see Reyansh providing her with things she could never but she was also glad to see Jugnu being a child again, a thing Pranati had never gotten a chance to witness.

She was a teacher for middle school and learnt a lot about kids. They threw tantrums, they yelled and screamed to speak their mind, they played and laughed and they cried when it hurt.

But Jugnu did nothing like other kids.

She never threw a tantrum to get anything for herself. She never had friends because of the name calling. She never yelled or screamed or played or even cried. Pranati had never seen her child act like a child should.

So tears quickly overwhelmed her when she saw Jugnu with the Khuranas, being what she should have a long time ago.

A child.

"Look DM, we won so many things!" Jugnu greeted her mother from the top of Reyansh's shoulders. "Where were you, we missed you!"

"Just..."

"Jugnu, don't mind your mother." Reyansh's condescending tone irked Pranati at once. "She's old now, so she was resting."

Jugnu gasped, adding salt to the injuries as she looked at her mother who was appalled at that thought.

"Excuse me?" Pranati stepped up, hands on her hips. "What did you say? Old?"

"Yes, Mishra ji. You're old now." Reyansh's hands were holding Jugnu intact while Pranati pointed her finger at him. "Face it, if we were to compete you'd lose."

"DM, main hoti toh nah sehti..." Jugnu shrugged, smiling sheepishly as the duo waited for the fuming woman to agree.

And Reyansh counted to three, knowing how and when to step on Pranati's nerves.

"Alright, let's see then." Pranati tightened her shirt knot and faced the man, tired of his shenanigans. "You and me, winner gets bragging rights."

Reyansh placed Jugnu on the ground, pulling his sleeves and raising his hand towards the fiery woman. "Loser has to admit that the winner is supreme."

"Done."

Jugnu chuckled, signalling Maan to be ready with her instant camera. "Alright then, let the games begin. DM vs SK!"
