f o r t y o n e. boredom and confessions
Jugnu Mishra was bored.
Nothing interesting happened over the next couple of days.
She thought they'd be parties, gala, interesting fun activities, but nothing. In fact, all of the Khuranas' went MIA. The elder Khuranas' went to work, Armaan and Maan also attended their responsibilities of hospitals and universities respectively. Even Baljeet Khurana had to meet up with few of the investors over the course of the next days.
That made Jugnu want to cry in boredom.
Her mother was brushing over the classes needed for the next term, ignoring all of her pleas and Reyansh who was supposed to be with her was also out for some work.
There was four days left for New Years and Jugnu did not know what to do alone in the huge house.
She read a book but gave up halfway when it got boring, tried helping Kesar Dai in the kitchen but almost burnt the entire thing down and was shooed away, tried gardening but ended up killing the plants than planting them and when she played games, she died in almost all of them without her father to assist her.
And the day was not even over!
"DM, please. You have been working the entire day, please let's just do something!"
"Jugnu, we have been over this. I need to finish my work, baby."
"But everyone else is busy too."
"Elders have to work too, that is how we get nice things in life."
"But what about time! No one has time for me, Vardhan chachu and Anisha chachi come home so tired, Maan and Armaan chachus come home way too late and even PD is not around. And SK, he has gone missing!"
"Baby, your father is out on an assignment, he told you he'd come in a day or two."
"DAY OR TWO! It has been two whole days already and today's the third day!" Jugnu cried, being so helpless and frustrated. "It is Christmas week, who works around the New Years!"
"Jugnu, try to understand love."
"I don't even have Gattu to play with or Jaana to trouble. I was so bored, I finished all my classwork and homework and even prepped for the next terms. There is nothing for me to do."
Pranati sighed, typing furiously on her laptop.
"When your father comes home, complain to him."
"I called him twice, but he was too busy to answer."
"Don't lie." Pranati turned back to face her daughter. "He called back both times."
"Yes, but he did not answer immediately."
"Well, that is how grown-ups are at times, busy and unable to do things we want to do. You think your mother loves working tirelessly when she can be with her daughter, or your father loves going outstation when he could be spending time with his kid? Or that the Khuranas' are enjoying their time outside when you are bored here?"
That shut Jugnu but she crossed her arms and moved out of the room, letting her mother work in peace.
What could she do than wait for them? She hated how grown-ups were so busy-busy during the most happening time of the year and decided that she would not be such a boring adult.
She wanted adventure and she'll do it on her own, with or without the adults.
