A sudden cracking noise caught both there attention. A shadow stretched itself out on the grass and rocks that lay on the ground. The shadows remained still the trees blocked its upper half but from what little they could see it didn't appear to be human, but it was a bad idea to take chances. Whatever the shadow belonged to remained quiet but it knew they were there, aware of its presence. It still didn't move as the wind picked up, pushing its hair in the air.
Kakuzu released a thread from his arm, waiting for the shadow to move, slightly. The shadows however stayed still, as if it knew if it moved it would die. But whither it wasn't aware or the thought slipped its mind it took its final willing step forward and sealing its fate. The thread shot threw its thought, a loud howl of fear and pain echoed through the usually silent forest. Kakuzu dragged it out of its hiding place. The creature was a male deer, it's pale brown fur had a thin trail of crimson red that was slowly turning black as the blood quickly dripped out. Hidan decided to end its suffering by jumping out of the tree and stabbing it through its skull with the middle blade of his scythe. Blood drops splattered across the grounds fine green grass. The deers body laid on the lush grass as Hidan pulled his scythe out of its head.
"I hate this things, there fucking scary." Hidan growled, his healing magenta eyes never left the corpse as if it would get up and walk around again, as if it would once again live. Kakuzu was confused but didn't question it, he knew Hidan long enough to know he said some weird shit every once in a while. Hidan slowly backed away, his eyes still not leaving the buck. "Gives me the fucking creeps." He finished.
Suddenly it all went cold and dark all around him, Kakuzu was no where to be seen. As he looked around for his partner, a loud metal thud rang throw his ears, he frightfully looking around for the cause of the sound. He found out he dropped his scythe but now it was swallowed by the dark and he couldn't find it. He back away slowly whispering Kakuzu's name trying to find him, hoping he would show up. He suddenly felt weight on his shoulders and pressure on his back. "Hidan, I'm right here. What's wrong with you?" A voice questioned sounding concerned.
As if it was a spell that had broken he was out of the darkness, his scythe laid on the ground shining in the moons gentle light and his boyfriend holding his shoulders, standing behind him. His eyes moved to the deers corpse, it hadn't moved. He let out a half sigh of relief, he was out of the darkness yet he could still taste and feel worms and maggots squirm around on his tongue. He stood still for a moment, not saying a word, just staring at the corpse, not realizing how heavily he was panting.
He calmed down after a few minutes, his breathing slowed. He took one last deep breath before his eyes left the body and move to the large heart monster suddenly sat at his legs. The fire mast in question didn't seem as energetic like it usually was. "What's wrong with it?" Hidan asked, squatting down beside it. The thread creature looked back up at him, though it didn't have any eyes other then on the mask that always held the same expression it seemed tired and ready to take a nap as if it had a long day of work. "It's a brand new heart it's tired." He explained as he took a set beside the creature. Hidan switched to a more comfortable sitting position and the creature pressed its covered face against his thigh tiredly, before move its little hand up to his chest to find his heart. Once it found the beating organ it seemed more happy and excited but still exhausted.
Once the fire was set up they began roasting the deer's meat. "No sense in wasting it." Kakuzu said, slowly petting the bundle of thread that sat in between the two immortals, staring into the fire. Hidan yawned it was already becoming brighter, they stayed up the whole night and were going too be tired for the rest of that day, witch wasn't a good thing if you were being hunted.
Hidan looked at his hands, sleepily. His mind was racing a million miles a second, his thoughts all over his skull, witch was become more and more crowded as every new one appeared. He had only been freed a few months ago but it felt like years. His thoughts suddenly shifted to Reku, he wondered where that boy went, how he suddenly found them he very rarely left his post at the temple. Why was he even so far out? His mind also drifted to Akari, he wondered how the older woman was doing. So much happened it felt like an eternity since he was freed from his grave. 'It's because so much shit happened, that's why it feel so fucking long.' He thought but he just couldn't shake the feeling that nothing was real.
"Hidan!" His name woke him out of his thoughts. He let out a questioning hum, his eyes left his palms and fixed themselves on his partner. "You've been staring at your hands for the past seven minutes. The hell is wrong with you?" The albino rested his head on his fist. "A fucking lot." "No shit." Kakuzu said while he rolled his eyes. He paused for a minute before continuing. "What are you thinking about?" Hidan sat quietly for a moment. "I'm not fucking sure." Was the only answer he could think of. "I was just lost in thought." Kakuzu didn't reply instead turned his attention to the deer. "I think it's ready."
