Katsuki was extraordinarily angry at himself the next morning. And the whole night before. He was mad because some stupid nerd was his mate, he was mad that he had gotten so much more powerful than what he last remembered, he was mad that he impulsively kissed Deku of all people to see what it was like, and most of all he was mad that he liked it.

He felt guilty too. He should have stopped when Deku asked. The wolf inside him started taking control, and he didn't want that to happen again. He should apologize, but then again it's probably best if he doesn't talk to Deku at all. Doesn't want him getting any ideas. Bakugou has decided that it's within his best interest to just ignore the mate bond. He doesn't need a mate after all, he just needs to focus on becoming the number one hero.

Easier said than done. When Deku walked into class, his green curly hair was a mess as usual and he had that stupid smile on his face and he looked the same as he'd looked every other day. Except Katsuki wasn't repulsed by him. He still wanted to beat him into oblivion, of course, but something was different.

Deku went and sat in his usual spot next to some girl in the class. The way she acted all flustered was obvious she liked him. He said something and they burst out laughing, and suddenly Katsuki heard a crack. His pencil was broken. Mine! his wolf growled inside of him.

What?? No. Deku isn't mine. That pink cheeked gravity girl can have him for all I care.

He huffed in annoyance and tried to focus on the class, ignoring Deku the best he could.

Izuku collected his things at the end of class, getting ready to get out of there as early as he could so he wouldn't run into Katsuki.

"Oh Deku! Can I ask you something?" Uraraka grabs his shoulder before he could leave. Somewhere, probably during their first gym class, she heard Katsuki calling out to him, and assumed that was his name. Although he used to hate it, it sounded so much nicer coming from someone who respected him.

"Sure, what is it??"

"Do you want to maybe go get some boba after? Maybe we could work on the homework together and-" suddenly she stops, and is looking nervously behind Izuku. He turns around and sees Katsuki glaring daggers at them.

"Uhh can I help you?" Izuku questions.

"Yes. No. Shut up," he pushes past them and heads outside.

"What's his problem?" Uraraka shakes her head.

"I have no idea. I'd love to though, thanks for asking!" Izuku smiles brightly, and Uraraka returns the favour.

The rest of the day went by quickly, he had fun hanging out with Uraraka and now he found himself hoping to see Todoroki again as he headed to the cafeteria. Sure enough he was sitting in the same spot yesterday, this time with some books as if he were studying.

"Hi Todoroki!" Izuku comes and sits next to him with his lunch. "What are you working on?"

"Just studying for a test I have coming up. How have you been?"

"I've been doing good, hung out with my friend Uraraka earlier."

"Girlfriend?" He asks abruptly.

Izuku's cheeks brighten at the implication of having a partner, and for some reason he hates the idea of Todoroki thinking he's taken. "What?! No, I mean she's a girl and she's a friend but we're not- I just met her yesterday and I don't- we-"

"Ah okay."

Izuku hesitates before asking, "why do you ask?"

"It's not a good idea to start dating werewolves around this time, sooner or later she's going to find her mate and then you'd be left alone." He explains.

"Oh," that makes sense. "Isn't that the same for vampires too?"

"...Yes, but the soulmate process is a bit different."

"Have you found your soulmate yet?" Izuku regretted asking the question as soon as he blurted it out, that's a bit of a personal question that isn't much of his business.

He pauses for a moment. "No,"

"Well I'm sure you'll find them soon!" Izuku says encouragingly, before continuing to eat his dinner. "Actually I have another question," he pulls out his notebook with information on all kinds of quirks as well as his research on werewolves and vampires.

"What is it?" Todoroki watches Izuku intently.

"How do you... eat? No-drink- I mean, I know how you would drink but do you- take humans-"

"No! Midoriya, villain vampires do that. As a hero it is my responsibility to protect humans from those sorts of vampires. I would never harm a human." he looks at him seriously. "I would never hurt you, I hope you know that,"

"Oh- no no I didn't think you would! I was just wondering how you do drink, if you don't do that?"

"Ah. Well, we are provided with artificial blood. It doesn't keep us as strong and doesn't taste as good but it's the best alternative." he explains.

"Oh I see," Izuku writes this newfound information into his notebook, muttering as he does so.

Todoroki smiles at Izuku's face, filled with thought and concentration as he writes as many details as he can. "What's in that notebook?" he asks curiously.

"Oh uh- I use it to write about different quirks and information, so I can know more about supernatural creatures and use it to help me become a better hero." Izuku closes the book, feeling a bit more self conscious about his hobby.

"That's smart," Todoroki continues to watch him, and Izuku looks up making eye contact. He wonders what Todoroki's quirk is. Without having any classes together he doesn't see him very often. He's also curious about how he got that scar on the left side of his face, it must have been very horrible since usually vampires have speed healing. "is something wrong?" he asks, looking at Izuku concerned.

Izuku's face heats up, he was staring. Again. "No I- sorry! it's nothing-" Izuku starts waving his hands, trying to brush it off. Todoroki then grabs Izuku's hands in his, which somehow makes his face go even redder at the soft contact, placing them on the table.

"I should get going, I have a class starting soon." Todoroki gets up and walks away, leaving Izuku alone with his thoughts, trying to figure out why his brain was acting so strangely.
