Here's a bit of a softer chapter to make up for that last one, it's shorter but I didn't want to leave u all on that last ending. -Author
It's been several days since Izuku was taken. Shoto hasn't left his room since the incident with Katsuki.
He's always struggled with sleep, ever since he was a child he would wake up from nightmares in the middle of the day and not be able to fall back to sleep. Always changing his schedule around. Now it's worse, he doesn't feel like doing anything and lies in bed all day, constantly checking his phone for a message from the pros calling for a new meeting saying they found him. They haven't sent anything yet. He wants to sleep. He'll close his eyes, and nothing happens. The best he ever slept was in the hotel. With his mates. Holding Izuku. Hearing his heartbeat and steady breathing was like a lullaby, it was calming to Shoto. Now there was silence.
He's been starving himself too. He doesn't deserve to eat. He should have known. How did he not know that the person entering the room wasn't Katsuki? It was his job to protect his soulmates and he failed. Izuku must be so scared right now. All alone.
He misses Katsuki too. Katsuki is still in the same building, but he's mad at Shoto, rightfully so. He doesn't deserve to seek comfort with Katsuki, he should be alone.
Katsuki shouldn't be alone though. He's too proud to ask for help, but he must need it right now. He can feel Izuku's emotions, and intense pain, as part of the mate bond. Shoto can't imagine how difficult that must be. Maybe he should go see him...
-
Katsuki sits up, frustrated that he can't sleep. Izuku is gone, and Shoto is mad at him. He should be, Katsuki always says stupid things without thinking. He was scared and angry, he just wanted Izuku to come back, and he took all his stress out on the person still with him.
It's been three days he hasn't seen Shoto. Four days Deku has been put through pain, suffering at the hands of a sick villain.
He also can't help but reflect on how horrible he used to treat Deku throughout their childhood, he'd tell him things like how quirkless people didn't matter, humans were at the bottom of the chain, he wasn't important enough to be a hero. And now here they are, Izuku one of the most important people in his life, and the pros don't think he's worth saving. Sure they're 'trying' but how long will they continue on before he is just another name on the list of missing humans, just another unfortunate victim?
He wishes he were stronger, what kind of alpha would he be if he couldn't even protect his mate from villains? It's tearing him apart, he can feel Deku's fear and sadness and he can't even try to save him.
Not being able to take it anymore, he steps out of his room and walks towards Shoto Todoroki's. The vampire probably won't want to talk to him, but he doesn't want to be alone and he needs to make up for what he said to him before.
Once he arrives he stands in front of the door but doesn't knock. This was a stupid idea, he should go back. He imagines Shoto's cold angry face, telling him he's an asshole and slamming the door on him. He tried blaming the guy for what happened to Izuku after all, which was a horrible thing to say. He doesn't know what to do, he wants to see him so badly.
He's just about to give up and leave when the door opens.
Shoto's eyes widen, as if he wasn't expecting Katsuki to be there. He probably wasn't, Katsuki is usually too stubborn to admit he was wrong, or ask for help. Katsuki doesn't fail to notice how horrible the vampire looks, but he shouldn't be one to talk he doubts he looks much better. The stress of Izuku has taken a toll on the both of them.
He pauses, there's so many things he wanted to say.
I'm sorry for everything I said, I didn't mean it.
I can't be alone anymore, it hurts so bad.
We should be going through this together.
I missed you, please let me in.
He clears his throat, looking down. "I can't sleep..."
Shoto watches him, eyes glistening with understanding. He moves to the side, gesturing for Katsuki to come inside. "Me neither."
-
Shoto could see by the look on his face that Katsuki wasn't angry with him anymore. He just needed company.Katsuki doesn't say anything else, he just steps in and walks straight to Shoto's bed, going under the covers. Shoto would smile if he weren't so tired, he could see in Katsuki's eyes that he was feeling just as lost as Shoto was. Relieved that he's no longer alone, Shoto gets inside the covers next to him.
Once he does, he feels Katsuki move right next to him, nuzzling closer as he drifts off to sleep. He's holding Shoto tightly, and it reminds him of how he's seen the werewolf holding Izuku many times before. Protectively.
His room instantly feels warmer and more alive now that Katsuki is in it. It isn't the same soft sunshine as Izuku has, but still a bright star for sure. Shoto listens to his strong heart beating, he missed being this close. He runs his fingers through Katsuki's hair, breathing in his scent.
They hadn't snuggled like this since the day they slept together, Katsuki avoiding his feelings again. Although Shoto respected that, he still missed it, and wished Katsuki reciprocated his feelings. That being said, the way Katsuki was holding onto him now is different than last time, and it made him question if he's beginning to feel the same way as Shoto. Or maybe he's just using him as a replacement for Izuku, he can't be sure.
Not that that was the only thing on Shoto's mind of course, he couldn't deny the aching feeling in his chest that was Izuku's absence. He knew he probably doesn't deserve it, but he allowed himself to soak in the comfort Katsuki provided, closing his eyes feeling safe as he drifts off into the first decent sleep he's had in a while.
