Shoto wakes up to being held tightly by warm arms. His heart falls when he remembers Izuku is still missing, but he embraces Katsuki's affection. They didn't say anything last night, just fell asleep in each other's arms.

He waits until he feels Katsuki shifting, and is silently disappointed when the warmth disappears from around him.

"Morning, Katsuki." Shoto says simply. He can never be too sure how Katsuki is going to react, for all he knows he's going to storm out and act like nothing happened. Luckily he doesn't.

"Morning..." he sits up, stretching. Shoto slowly sits up too, and their eyes meet.

After a moment they both open their mouths to say something, then Shoto stops, curious as to what he has to say. "You first,"

The blond takes a breath, scratching the back of his neck uncomfortably. "I didn't mean anything I said to you...the other day... I'm sorry."

Shoto raises his brows, an apology from Katsuki is rare. He thinks for a moment before he responds, wanting him to feel safe and open to communicating. He's also confused because he has no reason to apologize. "Oh... It's okay Katsuki, I wasn't upset with you, I was upset with myself. I agreed with everything you said."

"Well you shouldn't! Who could have predicted a fucking shape shifter infiltrating the place?! She was there for hours and none of us realized. It's not your fault." He explains confidently.

"But... She was you... I know you and I still couldn't tell...."

"Shut up. Don't waste time hating yourself for something that was obviously not your fault. She could have been you, and I probably wouldn't have noticed either! A quirk that can turn someone into someone else isn't exactly common, there's no way for us to have known that was going to happen. Not. your. fault. You're too smart to be thinking stupid shit like that."

Hearing this is a huge weight off Shoto's shoulders, Katsuki doesn't blame him for what happened to Izuku. He continues. "I was never angry at you, half-n-half... I just want him back and I didn't know what to do. How the fuck are we supposed to cope with something like this?! You seem to be so much more rational I don't understand how you can do it, don't you want to tear everyone apart until you find him?"

Shoto tries to focus on the conversation, starting to feel dizzy. Of course he wants to do anything it takes to get Izuku back but he can't let others see that. "Just because I internalize most of my emotions doesn't mean I don't still feel them. I've gotten good at masking my feelings, my father always made sure I didn't show any weakness."

"Well caring about your mate isn't a weakness, took me a hell of a time to figure that out."

"Thank you. I'm sorry for my outburst too, I don't blame you for stopping me from killing him." Shoto adds, remembering the things he had also said in the heat of the moment.

Katsuki shrugs. "I won't stop you next time don't worry, I want him to have the most painful death possible, he deserves nothing less. Scumbag."

"That isn't very heroic... We aren't supposed to kill the villains."

"Right, of course."

"If it's self defence though... and it wasn't on purpose....." Shoto trails off.

"Accidents do happen," he agrees, a small smirk growing on his face. "if it's a him or us situation, we'll have no choice."

Shoto nods, enjoying their indirect plan to kill off Dabi. "Of course. We can't be blamed. We're only students after all, not fully in control of our quirks."
