Y'all with medical knowledge are probably gonna hate me for my lack of realism in this so apologies 0.0 I just be making stuff up, the most medical knowledge I've got is from watching Cells at Work 😬 

"What do you mean we can't see him?! Why the fuck not?!" Katsuki snaps at the doctor who just stepped out of Izuku's hospital room. They had been beaten up pretty roughly but as soon as they were able to leave their own rooms they had rushed to Izuku's, only to be told they can't even go inside. 

"His immune system is very weak right now, any outside sources could be very harmful because if he gets sick, his cells won't be able to fight off any viruses and he could die. We gave him a blood transfusion but we need to let his body regenerate more blood cells before anyone can see him. It may be a bit before he wakes up." The doctor looks at the two males with sympathy.

"What does a bit mean...?" Shoto questions. 

"Could be a few days, weeks, even months. His body has been through a lot of trauma, it's amazing he managed to keep going as long as he did. We also don't know what kind of mental trauma he must have from an experience like this." she explains. 

"months...." Shoto whispers in disbelief. 

"He'll for sure wake up at some point though... right? He has to wake up," Katsuki tries to convince himself.

"It's likely he will but I can't guarantee anything. His body should be strengthened enough in 5 days, then you will be able to visit him even if he isn't awake."

"Thank you doctor," Shoto nods at her.

"You two need to rest now too, I heard about the battle you went through with the villains." 

Katsuki rolls his eyes while Shoto responds, "We will don't worry."

With that the doctor leaves them alone, nothing but a door between them and their mate.

"He's just in here... he's so close but we still can't fucking see him!" 

"At least we know he's safe now... We saved him,"

"Did we?! He's in a damn coma for who knows how long-" Katsuki pauses when Shoto's face falls. He can't repeat what happened last time, he needs to remember Shoto is going through the same thing he is. "-But knowing him he won't let something like this get in his way, the idiot won't be going down without a fight."

Instead of responding Shoto leans forward, engulfing Katsuki in a hug. He wraps his arms around him in return, resting his chin on Shoto's shoulder. They stand like that for a few moments, a few people walk past them in the hospital hallway but Katsuki doesn't want to let go. He's got a few badly burnt areas that are being pressed but he doesn't care, hardly notices them. 

"If we can't go in the room... We won't be allowed to sleep overnight in the waiting room. We'll have to go back to the dorms." Shoto breaks the silence, pulling away a bit but hands still resting on Katsuki's torso.

"Don't tell me what to do. I'm going to be here when he wakes up." 

"You need sleep, Kat, he might not wake up for weeks," 

"No I don't. You do, you look like crap. Go back to the dorms and I'll let you know if anything happens."

"I'm not leaving you, if you're staying I'm staying. But they'll kick us out eventually we can't sleep overnight in the waiting room"

Katsuki glares at him. He knows what Shoto is trying to do. And it's working. "Tch, fine you win let's go. Only because you need the proper rest and I don't trust you to take care of yourself properly when you're worrying."

Sorry it's kinda short I posted this early because I need another opinion on what to do next:

Should Izuku take a long time to wake up so we have to watch Todoroki and Bakugou suffering for a bit without him, them growing closer in the process?

Orr should we skip that and he wakes up next chapter and we focus on him having his post-trauma response and them working through that?

Let me know how long u want the suffering to last <3

Also don't worry what happened to Dabi and Toga will be explained later too
