Clay POV.
Mrs Williams glared down at the 3 bullies who shook with fear and nodded meekly. In a few seconds she readjusted her glasses and gave us a weary smiled at us. "Good. Now Mr Brown will see you all after school, he is taking detention today."
She then signalled for everyone to leave, but when I turned she said, "not you Mr Smith, I have something I want to ask you."
I turned back again to face her as everyone else walked out and then George, who was out last, shut the door. "So Clay, how are you enjoying your second week at school?" She asked, peering up at me with big buggy eyes.
"It's good. Thanks for asking."
I couldn't focus completely on what the principal said, she allowed George to be out there with 3 people who had his name on the top of a hitlist, but I managed to make out most of the things she said.
"It is quite impressive how you are the most popular student here in less than a month. And you seem good in both sports and academic areas, yet you don't try to do any extra curricular activities."
"Just didn't seem too interested in them, to be honest Mrs." I replied politely, my eyes glued on the door leading into the hall.
"Well Mr Smith, our football team could use an extra player for the new season and you seem to have the right build. Plus, if you agree I could shorten your detentions from 2 weeks to one."
I sighed out, thinking it over for a few minutes, but then she spoke up, "if you want just tell me or the football coach by Friday morning. Anyway I assume you have to head back to class around now."
She smiled at me as I nodded in thanks and walked out of her office, where both George and the trio of bullies stood. I ignored the bullies and focused solely on the brunette. "we should probably head back to class George."
He nodded in response and we walked down the hallway, with the trio of bullies glaring at us from behind.
"What did the principal talk to you about?" He asked me curiously when we were out of their earshot.
"An option to get me down to the same amount of detention as you."
"What did she want you to do?"
"She claims she needs a new football player on the team."
"Are you gonna take the offer?" He continued his questions as we stood right outside the classroom door.
I pushed it open and stood back so he could walk inside first. Then I followed him over to my desk. "Maybe."
Throughout the entire class I said thinking about what the principal offered. I could tell George was too. It wasn't a bad offer, I used to play football at my old school. But then again I knew George didn't like the sport and it was my job to look after him, so would he like it if I played?
Maybe I just asked him at lunch, that seems easier than just trying to guess.
I turned over to the brunette who was just staring blankly in my direction, lost in thought. Probably about the sport like I was.
It was a good way to distract myself from lessons as I considered what I should do.
George POV.
Clay had a clear love of football, no matter how much he tried to hide it. I knew he used to play it before he started working for me as my bodyguard, and I felt it was only fair to let him play if he wanted too. Afterall I felt like I took up most of his life now, even his day off turned into him looking after me when I had an injured leg and face.
We kept casually making eye contact during class and neither of us did much work, only enough to keep out of trouble and earning more detention. After we grabbed our lunch we head to the shed that we'd become familiar with and sat side by side.
"So are you going to do football?" I asked the blond again as I bit a huge chunk out of my sandwich.
He just shrugged his shoulders and reply. "I'm not sure if I should, I mean you are my boss so it is up to you I guess."
I let out of groan, "please don't call me your boss, it makes me feel like a 50 year old man."
"Sorry Georgie, but it's still true, and I feel you should get a say in it."
"Maybe you should." I said as I leaned back until my back was resting against the metal wall of the shed. He looked at me asking for an explanation so I gave him one, "I know you like the sport, so you should get a chance to play it. Also, you deserve to without me getting a say because after all, I made you lose your day off on Sunday."
The blond stayed silent after that, clearly thinking it over, he finally made up his mind as we headed back inside. "I think you might be right George, maybe I will try out football."
**Editor's note. it is illegal to play high school sports when you are too old to be in highschool, even if you are a popular 19 year old hired as a billionaire's bodyguard in a fanfiction on Wattpad.
Unfortunately he said that too loudly, and the basketball team who had been hanging out around the court nearby before all the crowds of students came out overheard.
"Hey blondie, you seriously going to play football over basketball?" One asked.
Clay and I sighed in unison and tried to turn and continue walking.
One thing I noticed about the blond is that we both had a mutual agreement that most sports players were stuck up and annoying.
We tried ignoring the basketballers as he and his friends all come over to us. "Why can't you play basketball instead it's way more fun." He said as his friends came over.
The blond sighed as they stood around us, all of the players were about the same height as him and he could probably not beat them all in a 1v6. "Can't you just piss off and leave us both alone you assholes? Neither of us are interested in anything that comes out of your worthless mouths"
You'd have expected to hear that coming from Clay right? and in most cases you'd be right. But now you weren't.
Everyone in the group of basketballers looked over at me in suprise. I barely ever spoke up, inside or outside of class made no difference. Only speaking when spoken to at a volume that was nothing more than a mumble.
So when they heard me telling them to piss off they were surprised, and the blond was impressed I'd said it too, seeing as the basketballers could probably scare people into giving themselves concussions.
They looked at Clay then back at me in slight annoyance but didn't do anything.
The blond just shrugged his shoulders "what he said."
Then he turned to leave.
That encounter was brief and not worth mentioning at all, but Clay went on and on about how that was one of the first times I've talked in front of a group of people when he was around and it was to go tell a team of talk sports players to piss off and that they were worthless. The blond kept switching personalities from freaking out about me going to get hurt if those basketballers got mad to laughing at my boldness when talking to them.
In fact recalling those damn 2 sentences I said seemed to keep him entertained for the rest of the day and I began to find it annoying.
He had finally managed to control his finally bit of laughter when the final bell rang and the slightly depressing reality set in.
We were going to detention and being punished for something that wasn't our fault and also happened outside of school 3 days ago now.
The class where detention was held was on the second floor in room 304, which is where Mr Brown, the teacher liked to hold detention. Every other day of the week it would be held on level 3, which is the only reason why people typically went up there in the first place.
But we had it in room 304 on level 2 because that is where the drama teacher Mr Brown claimed it used to be held when he was in school here.
We opened the door to the classroom both feeling on edge about the situation and peered into the classroom where Mr Brown stood watching us standing in the doorway.
"Get in in here you 2." He said in a stern voice, clearly having better things to do. We came in quickly and sat at a pair of desks in the back corner of the room, which was full of the school's worst behaved students.
"Ok from when I leave this class you lot will have to stay in here for 1 hour, or until I dismiss you, and you best behave or I might tell the gym teachers to pick on you next time you do sports class."
The entire group of schools delinquents watched as he walked over to the door and held the handle. His eyes traced over us before he left.
"welcome to today's detention you lot." He said before shutting the door and leaving.
