AUTHOR POV

Kim Junkyu was not a romantic person.

Buying flowers for someone? He scoffed at the idea. Besides, the scent of flowers always made his nose itch. Watching the sunset together? The very notion was laughable. He failed to understand what was so special about that particular time, when the sun dropped into the horizon and the world grew steadily darker. After all, it happened every day. Going for long walks holding hands? He preferred staying at home, where he could avoid unnecessary foot cramps.

But then, Junkyu met someone.

Suddenly, his world became brighter, as though someone had simply flicked a switch and illuminated it for him to see. The other boys often teased him mercilessly about it when he told them, but they listened to him when he asked, offering him kind words of advice and a supportive pat on his shoulder, silently encouraging him in the only manner with which they could.

Junkyu changed in ways he had never imagined.

He found himself bounding over to the florist every week, checking and double-checking whether the flowers he bought were fresh and vibrant. In those times, he forgot about the annoying itch in his nose. He learnt that the sunset was special, because just as the sun began its descent, time stopped and the sky lit up, almost like the sun was painting a portrait of farewell on the biggest canvas known to the world. When he was cooped up at home, he found himself wanting to go out and stretch his legs, and he yearned for a hand in his own and a voice to talk to about the most random things.

So he did all of that, and he enjoyed every single moment, even craving for more and more.

Because Kim Junkyu was not a romantic person.

Until he met hwamin.

>> back to the present

Junkyu closed the door to his car, which was parked in the street, in front of your house. The cold evening wind gave him chills. He didn't arrive properly dressed since he just ended the shoot he was at. For the past week, his schedule was filled, and he was busy bustling to and from shooting sets.

Taking a glance left and right, junkyu placed his hands in his sweater pockets, seeing his breath in the air. He unlocked the gate to your house and went inside, closing the gate behind him.

Junkyu walked up the stairs leading up to your front door. His nose started getting runny because of the cold night. He took his left hand out of his pocket and entered the pin to your home. The door unlocked with a click and junkyu pulled the door open.

When he walked inside, he let the door close behind him. Junkyu took off his shoes and headed toward the kitchen, where he saw you sitting on the kitchen counter. You had a glass of red wine in your hand.

Both of you had exhausting days, so you had called him earlier that day but he had denied, you thought he needed space so you didn't argue when he bid you goodbye but here he was at your home withing 10 minutes your conversation ended. A faint smile passed through your face.

Junkyu took off his sweater and placed it on the couch. He was wearing a casual black t-shirt and grey sweatpants.

You took a sip of your wine and then hopped off the counter. You walked over to a cabinet where you stored your wine glasses and took one out.

You could hear junkyu pull the chair by the counter, probably to sit on it.

"How was your day?" You asked, walking over to him with the shiny wine glass.

Junkyu placed both of his elbows on the counter. "Well, fine I guess. I just want to lay down and sleep though. It's been kind of hectic this week."

Junkyu poured himself some wine and gulped it all down. Instead of sitting on the counter, you placed yourself on the chair beside him. You were looking in the direction of the living room while he looked toward the cabinets. You held your wine glass in your hand as your back leaned against the counter.

"How about you?" junkyu asked .

"Same as you. I just want to lay down on the floor and listen to some sad music. It's overwhelming" You rested your elbows back on the counter.

Junkyu nodded.

There was a moment of silence as you two continued drinking. You only took small sips because you already drank quite a bit of wine before junkyu came. Junkyu continued to pour more into his glass.

"Hey, junkyu," you broke the silence with your slightly drunk question as you stared outside the far window in your living room. Junkyu turned his head to you. "What would your perfect day be like?"

Junkyu chuckled a bit. He looked back at his wine glass.

"Just a day where I can be with my family and you" he replied quietly.

"Does that include the your members?"

"Of course. I just want all of our families to gather and have an outing or feast. We're like a big family nonetheless. I would also just want to read a book, eat, play games. A day where I'm happy is already perfect though."

You smiled, taking in the rest of the wine in your glass. "This is why i love you. Because you're kind, trustworthy, and thoughtful, I can share just about anything with you."

Junkyu smiled.

You placed your glass down on the counter and stood up from your chair. "I'll get my Bluetooth speaker, it's too quiet."

When you left to fetch your speaker, junkyu threw himself onto the floor of the kitchen. He was starting to feel a bit tipsy from the wine. With his back flat against the tiled floor, he had nowhere to look at but the ceiling. Now, he couldn't stop smiling.

You walked into the kitchen and laughed when you saw him lying down on the floor. You quickly turned on the speaker and started playing music. A smile was on your face but you were still in a tired and lazy mood so you chose "Sparks" by Coldplay.

He started giggling out of nowhere and immediately, you knew he was tipsy.

"What a perfect song choice."

You smiled at his comment and sat down on the floor beside him, swaying your body back and forth. You looked over at your comfortable boyfriend, who still had a smile on his face. After a bit, you lowered your body to lie down next to him, his arm became your pillow.

"This song makes me think back on my hardships," junkyu said. "Now all I want to see is the moon."

You had your hands on your stomach, looking at the boring, white ceiling. "Gosh, what a hard day it was."

Junkyu smiled in agreement. "I know, right?"

After "Sparks" finished, "The Scientist" by Coldplay started.

"Even if we can't see the moon, at least rain down on us, world."

Junkyu chuckled and curled his arm around your shoulder.

"Let's just reset our minds tonight," hesaid, letting out a deep breath. "Reset, reset, reset."

You looked up at him. He had his eyes closed.

You turned to face the ceiling and closed your eyes too. The strumming of the guitar continued as the voice sang about wanting to go back to the start.

The song was all both of you could hear and before it even ended, both of you blacked out.
