stepping out of the black car, you felt your heart do a somersault; whether it was with nerves or excitement, you couldn't quite distinguish. cameras flashing non stop, you didn't know how they knew you had a schedule. a small smile found its way to your lips when a familiar face rounded from the other side of the vehicle, and just by looking into his eyes you could tell he was feeling the same ambivalence. "junkyu" you breathed, allowing him to pull you closer to him and slide his arm around your shoulders as you began to walk into the TV station building.
*flashes intensified*
he looked down into your eyes, his gaze comforting yet playful as you strode down the corridor, your strides falling into unison. "nervous?" he asked, his eyebrow quirked.
"and you're not?" you replied jokingly.
when you had decided to become an idol, you had always intended to keep the world of your career and that of your private life separate. for other singers who had come before you, the collision of those two worlds had seemed to always come with scandals and problems which could seriously damage the dream which they had only just began to build.
despite your light hearted actions, your boyfriend squeezed your arm reassuringly as you reached the waiting room. "the fans reaction to the dating announcement was a lot better than we expected," he reminded you, carefully combing your hair away from your face with his slender fingers as you sat down in a chair.
"there's nothing to be afraid of, just be yourself." you leaned into his gentle touch, your face cupped in his large hand, looking up through your eyelashes to peer at his beautiful face. he was right. rather frustratingly, he was always right. the fact that you'd been invited onto a variety show with your boyfriend after the news of your relationship came out was evidence in itself that he was right. as your eyes grazed across his features, his obsidian eyes and the imperfections of his skin, you realised you didn't need to fret.
with him by your side, what did you have to worry about?

before you knew it, you were stood onto the set. it was strangely familiar - although you had never been on this variety show before, you'd grown up watching it so it was a bizarre feeling to be stood amongst the environment. you politely greeted the host and camera crew, then made your way to the spot beside junkyu. smiling shyly at him, you exchanged glances of encouragement and adoration. the director was just about to announce the start of the shoot when junkyu suddenly stood up. "sorry," he said, "but would it be possible to get a blanket for hwamin's lap? it'll be more comfortable for her." looking down at yourself, you realised that your outfit was indeed rather short and you struggled to hide the blush that dusted your cheeks at his public display of concern for you.
it was the first time you and junkyu's connection had been put under pressure in such a way and you had to admit that your chemistry was through the roof, even more so than you had thought. although you had both been nervous and unsure of what to expect, both the interviews and games were going smoothly. when it was time to play truth or dare, both you and your boyfriend were feeling significantly more relaxed.
junkyu picked out a coloured piece of paper from a container prepared by the crew and opened it secretly, turning his body away from you but never straying too far away. "ah," he chuckled embarrassedly, before showing the slip of paper to the camera.
It read, 'who progressed the relationship from friendship to romance?'.
"i'll answer this one" he announced, clearing his throat nervously and stealing a glance at your amused expression. "we'd become good friends during breaks at our company, but I almost immediately had thoughts about taking it further... so i invited her to dinner after practice" the memory brought a smile to your face. although junkyu's personality was generally on the relaxed side, that particular day he had been acting so tense and jittery; it had crossed your mind that perhaps he didn't like you and was trying to find a moment to let you down considerately, hence his unusual behaviour.
