(Chapter 35) The intern

Earlier at (G)I-DLE's dorm

Yuqi was sitting on the sofa playing with her phone, she was so engrossed in it so I decided to peek into what she's crazy about.

"Oh it's Battlegrounds again." I commented while she was still tapping on her phone, which made her jolt a bit not knowing my presence.

"You just pop out of nowhere nowadays, you know that." Yuqi pretended like she was about to lose her breath.

"I did it on purpose to distract you from your little game." I chuckled as I rested beside her.

"If you're bored, go to Cube or call your lover and have a date." She said while still focusing on her phone.

"I don't have a lover, what are you talking about!?" I took one of the pillows on the sofa and started hitting her.

She put her phone down to face me with a teasing grin. "Oh so kissing and holding hands are a friend thing now?"

I started hitting her with the pillow again. "Yah! I didn't say a name, what are you hitting me for?" She laughed while blocking away my hits. Of course, I didn't stop hitting her, making hers stand up, trying to run away from me.

"Hey, stop hurting the kid and let her be Mira-yah." I heard Soyeon's voice, which made me turn around to look at the leader and gave Yuqi the time to escape and run towards her room. 

"You won't get away from me later, Yuqi Eonnie!" I yelled in Yuqi's direction before facing the calm Soyeon. I plopped down on the couch again.

"You're here early, don't you have work in Cube?" I asked as Soyeon sat down beside me.

"I'm trying to find ideas for a song, I am surely  bored at my studio so I went out to find some fresh air." 

I hummed in understanding. There's a lot of things going through my mind lately, it won't hurt to ask Soyeon about it.

"Umm... Eonnie..." I looked down quite shy about my question.

"Hmm?" She faced me with a raised eyebrow. "If it's something about your love life I'm a bad advisor for such things so no." She said even before I could say something.

"No it's not that, I just wanted to ask you if you have heard me sing before?" I asked shyly while looking at the floor.

She chuckled. "Of course, a million times if I remember it right." 

"Do you think I still have it even after 6 years?" 

She recognized the uneasiness in my tone. "Why? Are you doubting that we might be lying to you out of pity?" 

Of course, Han Seulri had a terrible singing voice, so I'm guessing that might affect me now.

I nodded slightly, only earning a chuckle from the leader.

"How about we test it and see if you still have it?" 

"Now? Like literally now? Here?" I blinked my eyes a couple of times being the dense person that I am.

"No, you dummy, in my studio. Let's go there. I'll tell the others to come." She stood up from the sofa, quickly taking her phone and wallet before dragging me with her.

By the time we reached the dorm door, Minnie also went in at the right time.

"Where are you guys going?" Minnie tilted her head to look at Soyeon's hold on my wrist.

"Oh we were heading to Cube, I was gonna tell you guys to come when we reached the studio." 

"Ahh okay." Minnie's answer was so blunt and plain, of course Soyeon realized it, she looked at her hold on my wrist and back again to the Thai.

"And don't worry, I ain't gonna steal her." Soyeon said with a following chuckle.

"Who's going to Cube?! What's happening here!?" The loud and rushing Yuqi ran towards the door.

"Oh you too, let's go to Cube. Mira wants to test her vocal skills." 

"You wanna test your vocal skills? But you're an amazing singer, you don't need that." Yuqi said.

"She seems doubtful of it so let's prove her wrong, c'mon." Soyeon grabbed Yuqi too, like we're little children following their mother.

After the recording

"Please introduce yourself." Areum Eonnie said to her as she bowed to each of us.

"Annyeonghaseyo, I'm Moon Chimlin." She said and bowed to each of us.

I was stuck there not knowing what to react. She was my best friend, but why am I anxious? Something in me is scared that she's here and the other is glad to have a familiar face around though given the circumstances now she won't know it's me.

"Moon Chimlin? I think I've heard of that name before." Yuqi said knowing the social butterfly she is.

"Oh umm... I'm actually a Neverland, I've been in one of your fan signs before, but that was a long time ago." Chimlin mildly said.

"You aren't some kind of saesang, right?" Soyeon critically questioned her standing in front of us like a shield.

Chimlin chuckled a bit. "No never, I love (G)I-dle but not to the point that I'd actually try and invade your company." 

She replied in a very cheerful manner knowing she doesn't easily get shy. 

"We're very sorry for not recognizing you." Soojin said.

"Oh it's okay, I don't really mind, meeting you all is a great thing already." Chimlin replied, trying to look at Soojin but failing at the same time.

Well who would be able to look directly into their idol's eyes. I'd probably faint, but after living with them for so long I might've gotten used to it.

I didn't notice it earlier but Minnie's quiet, it's unlikely of her to do that, we all know Kim Minnie.

I looked to my right to witness her reaction and to my surprise Minnie was deeply thinking about something as she stared at Chimlin.

"Hey, do you live in Busan?" Minnie finally uttered something. After her silence it's probably because she's deeply curious about something.

"Yes, how did you guess? Is it my accent?" Chimlin replied, scratching the back of her head. She does have a slight accent, I'm surprised I didn't have it too since I'm from Busan myself but it's barely noticeable hearing from Chimlin.

"No, it's not that. Do you perhaps know Han Seulri?" 

I froze at my spot. 

What does she want to do with Han Seulri?
