Jennie sighed as she went up to the balcony of the orphanage she was in.
From there, the view wasn't much, as it was on the outskirts of the city.
The only people that have buildings or even property around here was the orphanage, a lake house in the distance and the neighbouring boys prep school.
Jennie already knew that she was in her supposed to be second last year of high school, but since the orphanage taught them classes there itself, she had never really been
out, apart from visits to a local street when she snuck out.Shocking, you'd say for a 17 year old.
It was December, meaning it was chilly.
But for some reason it usually doesn't snow out here until January, so although the night would be cold, there wasn't any snow.
Also, being a 17 year old, she had already expected that she wouldn't be adopted.
She already realised soon enough that next year, the orphanage would get rid of her with the usual $5000 dollars and tell them to go make their own livings.
She thanked the lord she was already a straight A student with a good class list, and a sympathetic enough story to use for her college essay.
She really didn't care about her place in life anymore, she had already grown out of that.
Jennie had toughened up in this environment.
No matter how good and sweet the orphanage had kept their image on the outside, it was a hell hole inside.
She had been subject to quite a few of the caretakers insults, and had quickly developed a hard shell, harder than the others in fact.
She didn't really have that many close friends here, it was an all girls school, but every girl here was quite bratty and most of them were young.
The care takers were also biased here, if a kid would cooperate with them better they would help send them to a good family.
Another reason is so that these kids would only tell good things of the orphanage so that they wouldn't get in trouble, and so far it worked, because Jennie hadn't gotten into a family yet.
In fact the only friend she had here, was ironically also not adopted, but for the opposite personality.
Her friend had a very outgoing personality, and was often seen causing trouble, so you could say the two of them hadn't had very good luck.
"Jennie Yah!"
Speaking of her, there she was.
Bae Irene.
Irene had approached Jennie when she first got here, and taught her all the secret ways of the orphanage and all.
However, she was in fact leaving in a few months, meaning Jennie would be left alone.
Why?
Irene was a year older meaning she'd be let out earlier.
She already got an early acceptance and full scholarship letter from the best university in Seoul due to her grades, and is attending in the management section because she wants to work in the event management side, now making complete sense for her.
Jennie turned her head as she saw the said girl approaching, until she took a stand right beside her.
"You know I never see what you see in the clouds, I would much rather stare across the fence." she said as Jennie rolled her eyes at the girls behaviour.
Irene is known to hate all men, except the neighbouring school ones.
They were prep school boys, meaning they had basic manners and hygiene.
That's all the girl needed, with some good personality.
The school next door was an all boys school, so it made sense for them to be out. But the thing is, only the back of the school faces the orphanage, so it's usually the so called 'rule breakers' who go out there.
Jennie and Irene didn't mind that however, as they sort of have smoked and drunk back there avoiding their own care takers before, so it wasn't very new to them.
Jennie momentarily glanced to see that there were already 4 boys there, the usual ones.
She didn't pay them too much mind as usual as she turned away.
Thinking about it, she never really saw their faces either, just their figures out back.
"We're literally leaving this hell hole soon, there's no guarantee you'll see them ever again." she said as Irene just smirked.
"But if you do, then it's destiny." she replied as Jennie snorted quietly.
"You're delusional." she muttered to Irene who smiled.
"Maybe... maybe not. Either Way, that not why I called, it's because I want to go somewhere tonight." she said as Jennie rose an eyebrow.
"You mean sneak out? I mean sure but why suddenly?" She asked as Irene shrugged.
"I got invited while I was out back having a can of beer, right after you left, and they told me to invite you so I said okay." Irene said to Jennie who just stared dubiously.
"And what's the guarantee they aren't spoilt brats, because as far as I know, the only people you could've spoken with out back is the prep school kids." she said as Irene shrugged.
"Nah they're cool, I've seen them out back when we're there after you leave a few times, they're quite normal. Plus they're our age. I haven't seen any kids our age here, let's just give it a try." Irene said as she tried to convince Jennie.
Jennie just looked back out before turning back to Irene.
"Okay. Why not. We have literally nothing to lose unless they're morons and annoying because then I will lose my sanity, or if they're murderers, then we will lose our lives." she said nonchalantly as the latter rolled their eyes at her.
"All right. It's on them. Usual time after lights out, we'll go together." she said before turning over Jennie's shoulder and giving a thumbs up.
Jennie curiously turned back as well, confused as her cat eyes scanned the area to see four guys who were giving okay signs to Irene in response.
Now looking closer she looked at them one by one.
They weren't bad looking.
One obviously stood out from the others though, and their eyes met momentarily before he smiled at her, as she looked away.
That was their, meet-cute, as they call it.
