Jennie had come in after a night of being away.
Normally, anyone would have thought she just have spent the night at some other place, and at her age, everyone would have assumed it was a guy.
But she did call Taehyung, and he knew she spent it with her sister having a girls night or whatever they called it these days.
And he also knew that she wasn't the type to have a one night stand out of the blue.
Since they both had classes they were away all day and it was around 6:30 in the evening as of then.
She just went in to shower earlier, and he was at the dining table, writing and working away.
Almost 10 minutes passed as she walked out again, as Taehyung's face almost automatically rose to see her.
It was like an effect she had on him. He'd always see her first.
"Hey." she said as she crossed him and went to grab a glass of water from the kitchen.
"Hey... how was spending time with your sister?" Taehyung asked as be shut my laptop and leant against his chair while she approached the table again.
"It was good. We spent every day in the same house so it makes sense to miss her." she said as she slid across the seat from him at the dining table, letting her fingers run through hair to let it lose.
As she pulled her hair tie out the strands of brunette hair fell over her shoulder, drawing gaze to her relaxed expression.
She always did that to him, entranced him. Maybe it's the nostalgia of it all, from their history, or maybe she just manages to still effect him the way she used to, and he just couldn't help it.
The moment he realised he was staring he immediately looked away, not wanting to seem creepy.
"Do you still keep up with our old....habits?" She asked as she sipped on her water and fully looked at him with those deep brown eyes of hers.
"Habits? Wh- Oh, you mean those" Taehyung said as he understood that she was referring to their smoking and delinquent acts back in the day.
He let out a chuckle faced her properly.
"No I stopped right after you left, and everyone else did too. We never intended to continue you know? It's just that we're now legal to drink, so that's it." He smiled and ruffled his hair.
She looked away as he did that, and Taehyung noticed that her cheeks were flushing red.
Did I do something wrong? Or is she sick?
"Jennie, uh are you sick?" He asked a little concerned as he leant closer to her whilst she looked back to him confused.
"H-huh? Where'd you get that idea?" She fanned herself.
"Well, you're face is red and you look a little, unwell. Do you have a fever? Should I get some medicines?" He asked growing genuinely concerned as he reached to check her temperature while her eyes widened and she pulled back immediately.
"W-what? No, n-no I'm not sick of you, I mean sick, I'm not sick. U-uh it's just, just hot in here you know. Oh w-wow it's really burning in here. There's no AC or anything." She freaked as her face only became redder while he just rose an eyebrow at her.
"Uh okay. If you say so. Let's go to the living room then, there's AC there." Taehyung stood up and walked first, and seconds later heard her following.
He plopped down on the couch and put his legs up on the table while she also sat beside him, pulling her knees to her chest.
"Better?" He asked tilting his head to look at her as she laid her head back on the couch.
"Much, there's actually air conditioner." she said and chuckled as Taehyung let it go.
They started talking quickly about whatever they could, and got along a lot better than they both thought they would.
Both had initially thought that they would be really awkward because of whatever happened back in their past, but they grew comfortable with each other rather quickly.
He didn't know about her, but he genuinely enjoyed spending time with her.
Taehyung may have had Jimin as a really good friend, but her...she's the only one who's made him feel this way in a long long time.
Maybe it's the way she laughs, or dresses, or even how smart she talks. Maybe it's how mysterious she was.
Soon enough before they both realised it, he was staring at her while she talked, laughing at a passing comment here and there.
He didn't princess a single word that came out of her mouth.
All he could focus on was her, the way she talked, the way her lips moved, and how her cheeks stood out when she laughed.
Her little eye smile and the melodious sound of her when voice when she laughed.
Whatever it was, he knew he was caught.
And she seemed to have noticed too, as her eyes froze on him for a moment, waiting for him to do something, anything, to break the tension.
She was staring right back at him as she slightly bit her lip, making his eyes immediately glance below and back to her eyes.
"Taehyung?" She called, her voice laced with a little bit of a shiver sounding confused and breathless.
And that's all it took.
