"Well this is...something." Taehyung muttered in disbelief from one side of the couch.
He certainly was in disbelief and confusion as he saw the situation they were in.
As a roll down memory lane, a few days prior he was told by his parents that he would be getting a roommate in the apartment to take the second room, meaning he wouldn't be here on his own anymore.
His parents reasoning was that it was because he utterly failed to take care of himself and that he should start learning how to because he couldn't be dependant on others forever.
And since the future roommate needed to find a place soon to stay for their college year, his own parents already said they would let the individual stay there, in his current apartment rent free, and to their delight their family accepted the offer almost immediately because they had been friends for so long.
Yet they had never met being a continent away.
The new roommate was Mason and Clare Park's kid, and he didn't think much of it as he thought his parents would never place him with a girl, so he automatically assumed that the person would be a male.
So when the all black suitcases arrived, he didn't open it, thinking again that it was a males suitcase given it was all black and a classic for anyone, and there were no hints it was a girl.
But surprising him enough to shock him shitless, it was none other than the elusive Jennie Kim.
The Jennie Kim who he had his first kiss and unspoken history with back at his high school junior year.
The Jennie Kim who made his heart pound like it did for no other, threatening to drum out his chest, and the Jennie Kim who never left his mind since the day she had left them all.
That day stuck in his mind as he heard the words that Irene had told them all.
And now, she was sitting across him on the sofa, as his brand new roommate.
The news was not even a little less shocking for Jennie.
Sure she knew her roommate was a guy, but that was it.
Never had she ever seen him before or knew anything about him, and when she was told about the apartment she only accepted due to the great amenities and location, as it was gated and offered multiple positives.
And it was close to the school which everyone wanted.
Also the fact that she could move in immediately.
But now, look at where she was.
She had moved in and filled in her address as the apartment as well.
But when you look now, she has a roommate who she was all too familiar with, the guy who she pondered about.
Kim Taehyung.
"I'll talk to my parents and get them to get a new place don't worry." he started as he was about to get up but halted as she spoke disapprovingly to his words.
"Don't. There's no use. They obviously knew it was a girl staying with you since they were the ones that put us to live together." She explained as she took the time to look at the bare walls of the place.
"And even if you do say you're uncomfortable, when they ask why what do we say? Oh yeah we used to be minor delinquents and met each other drinking. That won't work out one bit for us or anyone for that matter. Let's just deal with it." She told him, turning back to face him, but all she saw was a blank slate.
Taking that as an incentive to continue, she proposed a solution to making things work between them.
"We can make terms for usage of different things around like electricity, and I don't mind paying rent for my stay at the apartment either." Jennie said as he shook his head.
"Uh no, it's fine. The only thing is don't open my notes or anything. And.. umm, I'll help you settle in?" He asked unsure of what to say.
She just sighed and nodded.
"Sure I guess. Uhh where's my room?" Jennie asked as he paused and stood up.
"This way, the apartment was pre-furnished so I never did anything to it, you can change it if you want to." he said as he led her to the bedroom on the other side of the hall.
She stepped in as she analysed the room and smiled on satisfaction.
It was a grey and white room, with small touches of red here and there, adding contrast to the colour scheme of the room.
The curtains had black out curtains, just the way Jennie preferred just in case she were to sleep and there was a closet with a desk as well, perfect for her.
(Guiding Picture at the top)"No... I think it's...perfect" she said turning back to him with a smile on her lips as he swallowed lightly.
"Oh-uh, that's good. I'll help you unpack your boxes and stuff." he said as she began refusing.
"No it's fi-"
"I insist. If we're going to live together for the next possibly two years, we should at least try and out our past behind us and get closer. Maybe friends at least." he said as she only took a deep breath and nodded.
He also nodded at her before going to bring one of the suitcases.
"Okay calm down Jen, forget the past. Forget it. It's not like he's the one who makes my heart race now right?" She mumbled quietly to herself the minute he left.
"Fuck this. How am I going to last the next two years." Taehyung mumbled to himself the minute he walked out to a far enough distance.
"Well this is going to be harder than it looks like." they said to each other at the same time on opposite sides of the apartment, coincidentally or not.
