"What? Drugs?" Sana confirmed on the phone with the forensic expert, who only confirmed in response.
"Yep. The defendant's blood, on further examination, had proven he was, in fact, on drugs, weed to be exact," he said as Sana sighed and nodded.
"Okay, thank you for the information," she ended as she faced Jennie, who was seated across from her and Jungkook in the café.
"Doesn't this mean that he's going to get a longer sentence?" Jungkook asked as Jennie leaned back.
"Yeah. Not only did he do an aggravated assault but also refused to settle, but was in possession and under the influence of weed, illegal to smoke in Korea unless it's for medical reasons.
We have to now get a lot more work, like
Determine if the defendant was under it for medical reasons, which he obviously wasn't, but we have to check either way for the sake of evidence. It's easy enough to get that information as hospitals have to keep a record if they have administered drugs such as marijuana and weed, so Sana, work on that.
Meanwhile, Jungkook and I will head to the police station once again to see if the defendant will speak, and if not, we will have to notify the police of the new discovery," she said, handing out directions as the pair nodded.
You must be wondering why they are here out on a Monday?
Well simple.
They got permission to skip for the day and work on the case as there weren't any important tasks for either of them three.
So here they were, working on the case.
Jennie's phone suddenly rang as she excused herself to pick it up out front.
"Hello?" He inquired as she picked up the call without looking at the caller ID as she was in a hurry.
"Bitch congrats!" Irene's excited yell came from the phone as Jennie distanced it from her ear momentarily.
"Congrats for what? Getting a case that's a pain in the ass?" She asked as Irene's annoyed huff could be heard.
"No, you little shit! You placed first on the exams. You're in the No.1 spot. Sure there's a bunch of hoes out here mad and probably jealous, but bitches stay mad because you're winning!" Irene blurted out everything in excitement as Jennie only deadpanned at her.
"That's cool, I guess. See you," she said, ending the call before Irene could protest and headed back inside to the café.
Jennie pocketed her phone as she sat in her place again.
"So other than that, we also have to see the level of drugs in his system.
Sana, you're the one in direct contact with our forensic expert, so you get that done, all right? I'll Be in contact with our victim and our policemen, while Jungkook, you stay in contact with the other forensic expert till that guy can finally tell us how many injuries were there exactly," Jennie instructed as everyone understood.
"And if anything pops up, group chat, okay?" She said clicking on Jungkook's mobile phone as they both nodded.
"All right, let's go," she said as she began packing up everything, and Jungkook and Sana did the same before all three of them walked out of the café, splitting ways.
"Sana, just in case be careful. This is your first time actually doing field work; you can never be too sure, phone on at all times, alright?" Jennie instructed as Sana nodded.
"Yes boss. See you guys," she waved as she stepped onto the cab to make her way to the administration of medical health office, while Jennie and Jungkook got in her car and began driving to the police station.
"Noona, do you think that this case is really that serious?" He asked her after a moment of silence while she just sighed.
"I really don't know, Jungkook. Something is feeling.... you know.... off about this case to me. It's probably nothing, but it's that gut feeling. But don't worry, no matter what, while you and Sana are with me, I'll make sure nothing happens to you. Okay?" She reassured as Jungkook smiled at her feeling better.
"You don't have to worry about that. I'm a big guy now, and I can definitely handle myself," he said proudly as Jennie just smiled.
"I'm sure you can. But you'll always be a little kid to me," she said, ruffling his hair, laughing at the red light.
They both reached the police station finally, and it was Jennie's first time actually interviewing the defendant herself.
Before the case was put off due to her finals, but now she could give her attention to it once again.
She left her car, locking it as the small blip sound came once, indicating it was secure before the pair proceeded inside.
They first talked to the investigator in charge about the case and its details, as he nodded, indicating he understood and also looked a little tired with all the twists and turns.
"I don't get how you kids are not frustrated with this guy yet. But you will be," he motioned as Jennie sighed.
"Thank you for understanding. This case is really becoming a drag. We'll try and be out of your way as much as possible," she spoke as he smiled.
"It's alright you're not in our hair. Trust me. But if you wanted to speak to the defendant either way, he's already in the interrogation room. He was arrested without a warrant, and now he'll be there in the detention center before his actual charge is announced. Good luck. You'll need it, trust me," he said, giving Jungkook a pat on the back as the two looked at each other.
"Let's go?" He asked as she smiled at him.
"Let's go."
