Chinmayi's POV:

The chaos of emotions that surrounded the room, brought the expression of words to an understatement. The envelope of silence somehow magnified its impervious effect. Tears brimmed all of our eyes and occasional sniffles echoed through the kitchen arena. But none of us dared to speak a word or even twitch the most insignificant muscle in our bodies and all our eyes were glued towards Daadhi's directions as I could see her analyzing the situation.

Megha's phone suddenly starting buzzing, which caught all of our attention. With her reaction, I understood that it was Charan, because she attempted to stay composed and not let him realize the background of what was happening here. She slowly made her way out of the kitchen to talk to him and we watched her in silence.

Diya Bhabhi also somehow found her composure back and slowly started peeling the potatoes. I took Bhabhi's side to aid her with the pending work. Gradually, Ma and Badi Ma tried to pick up some work in the kitchen, as the intense silence dipped in unexpressed sentiments enthralled within all of us.

Megha's presence once again caught the glimpse of our attention. Her words were the first strong of acoustics that broke the quietness amongst us.

Swallowing she said, "Dadaji requires more blood and since Charan's a match, he'd be donating. Bhai is held up in making financial arrangements and Papaji and Bade Papa are too tired to drive back home. So, he asked whether Chinmayi can ask Deepak ji to drop by with food for everyone. "

My heart sank after listening to the news. More tears befriended all of us. We still stood rooted to our spots not knowing how to react to the received news. The iron lady of our family however, chose to speak a few words that brought us all back to our senses.

"Children, come on, now is not the time for us remain inert. We've got to be on our toes as our lips murmur our prayers. We've have to put behind our differences and now stay as that tightly knit pack, which thrives to survive together. Let us now go be there for your Dadaji."

All of us nodded in agreement and this included Ma and Badi Ma as well.

"Chinnu, please ask Deepak ji-"

Even before Daadhi could finish her sentence I responded saying, "Daadhi, Deepak and me would be more than happy to help the family out in such a situation. Plus, I also want to see Dadaji, you know after everything-"

My throat felt a tightness that stopped me from finishing what I was intending to say. Megha immediately walked close to me and wrapped her warm hands around me to calm me down. Little by little, I gathered the strength to stabilize my thoughts and freed myself from the emotional clutches.

I nodded at Megha to let her know that I was doing okay and with that assurance, she let me go. While things sped up in the kitchen, once again under the jinx of unspoken murmurs, I walked back to the place where I left Deepak.

My footsteps caught his attention as he sprinted towards my direction and took me in his warm embrace. Caressing my hair and gently rubbing my back, he just let me swallow everything at my own pace and with no interrogations. I felt a lot better under his shadow and I gently looked at his face.

"Charan-"

"Eeshwar already told me about everything. I was just waiting for you to come over."

I smiled at him.

"Is everything okay, do you want to talk about it? "

I stiffened at his words, and he immediately sensed my uncomfortableness.

"Hey, it's okay-"

We heard the echoes of someone's footsteps and broke our private bubble. We saw Megha carrying 2 bags, one a lunch bag, with food packed for everyone at the hospital and another seemed to be a luggage bag.

I walked towards her to help her out and Deepak followed me. She looked deeply into my eyes and it spoke a lot about the induced sadness that dwelled in her mind. I tenderly glanced at Deepak and he understood that we'd like some privacy.

He said, "Hey Chinnu, I'll be waiting in the car, okay?"

I nodded as he took the bags and left. My gaze returned back to my best friend.

"Megha, I am extremely-"

"Chinnu, it's okay. You don't have to apologize at all. Ma ji spoke out of pain and I understand that. It hurts me, yes, but I am not holding it against her. I should be eternally grateful to your family for giving a space and shelter to live with the love of my life. Also, now is not the time to talk about me or what happened in the kitchen. Please leave for the hospital, the food may get cold."

I nodded and hugged her tightly. God, I love her so much!

And so, with that I took her leave. When I walked a few steps away, she called my name. I turned back to look at her.

"Text me how Dadaji and everyone else is holding up okay?"

I acknowledged her request with a smile. She then said, "Ask Charan to stay strong, okay?"

I smiled at her as my heart swelled in commendation for the love and concern that she upholds for the entire family. I prayed and wished that one day Ma also would see her genuine nature and accept it.

As I walked out of the Mansion and my eyes caught Deepak's car. I slipped myself into the passenger seat and wore my seat-belt. He looked at me and asked, "Shall we leave?"

I said yes.

This was the first time, as a couple, enduring ourselves in a drive. But look at the irony of the situation, everything seemed out of proportion and thrown in random directions. With the hope of everything would get better, Deepak pressed the accelerator pedal towards our destination.
