Chinmayi's POV:I am sorry, what just happened right now?
It was almost evening and the guests were leaving. But my head was stuck with just a couple of words. The afternoon's events felt pretty blurry, but please don't blame me for it. I am having enough drama in my life already.
Did I get engaged in the most traditional way possible to The Deepak Joshi?
Did I really get locked in the name of Engagement?
My name's going to change to Chinmayi Joshi?
LIKE SERIOUSLY? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
Why isn't anyone really talking about anything?
Wasn't my "fiance" supposed be breaking "the news" to our families?
Good Lord!
I glared at Deepak and guess what he didn't have the guts to even look at me. Wasn't he the one who really didn't want to get married to me? And now who is rejoicing the sweets and savories prepared by my aunts and mother?
If you could see me right now, you could definitely witness the puffs of smoke rings emitted from my ears!
I felt like an angry Tom!
{I mean the cartoon!}
I slowly stood up from the living hall and headed back to my room. Well, now nothing can be done. It's all really really over. There is no looking back to any of it. My fate as been fixed by things beyond my control. I sat in the corner of my bed and...
LAUGHED.
I laughed so freaking much like as if I had just seen the most hilarious meme on Game of Thrones Season 8 or well, or had just watched a Charlie Chaplin movie or well, Laurel and Hardy had just teamed up for another classic prank, or well- Ok, let me stop, you get it right.
Ouch, I did laugh too much, my stomach just hurt and I felt cold tears caress my cheek. This is the right situation of Comedy of Errors.
I heard a knock at my door and well, it was none other than the great, the greatest of the great, (well sarcasm is just ringing along) Deepak Joshi.
"May I?", he asked, in the most gentlemanly manner.
Darn!
Sometimes he is so freaking good that it's hard to believe that he "forgot" a couple of sentences to be spoken in front of our family. I nodded sharply and well, he stepped in and started showing off his amazing dimples.
I should be mad at this person, but instead, my subconscious actions are literally falling for him!
Well, nope!
I am back to being mad!
"Look, I owe you an explanation Chinnu!"
"What? Did you just Chinnu me? Dude, I may be your fiance but only people close to me call me like that!"
He just blinked at me. He must've seriously thought that I've lost my mind, well, yes I have and the reason is, let him take a good look at himself in the mirror.
"Ok, will you let me talk or not?"
"Ok, but even before you utter a word to cover up the mess you've made, let me tell you that your mom just gave me a jewelry set and a grand silk saree. Do you know how much that would have costed?
You father came to me and said he'd arrange for my higher education. You brother is super excited because his fiance's sister is actually going to be his sister in law.
Forget about the financial aspect of whatever I said, but think, how emotionally it would hurt them if they knew that you had plans to call of this wedding from the very beginning of it.
You may want to hurt them Deepak, but I really can't. But marrying you, how can I know that you'd ever desire me? You have met so many people who are you know, much more prolific in the aspects of flirting and satisfying you. I feel trapped and suffocated Deepak.
It's not just my life here, it's my sister's and your brother's as well.
And think about our families?
What did you even think today?
Is there even a sensible side to you?
What am I missing here, Deepak?
You are one arrogant and wood headed person, do you know that?"
Well, whatever I had in my head, just came out in a not so artistic manner.
All my complexities, worries, future and where do we stand in this whole thing, really confused me.
I couldn't just fall for that dimple and looks right? It is tempting, but how could I?
"Chinmayi-"
He stressed on my name.
"Can I talk now?"
I chuckled and nodded in approval.
"Chinmayi Sharma, you are the most confusing, commanding and the most beautiful woman I have ever met in my life. You make me want to be a better person. I think, no, I know for sure that I am in love with you.
Will you, for God sakes, marry me?"
