They had to rely on the time for when to leave the motel, it seemed Ohio was having a cloudy day where one couldn't see the sunrise. Continuing their drive, Rachel once again sat in shotgun while Love sat in the back clutching her sweater for warmth and head leaning against the window with her eyes closed

"According to those files, the man who came after you may have been part of some doomsday cult," Dick explains to the teen girl who had spiraled into a panic attack at the sight of the guy she killed, "They apparently believe it's their destiny to prevent the end of the world. Does that mean anything to you?"

"Well, back when I was a kid," Rachel explains not sharing details, "you didn't get too angry, or too scared. 'Cause bad things happen"

"What kind of bad things?" Dick asks taking his eyes off the empty endless road only to see Rachel look away from him

"I guess I'm an orphan, too, now," Rachel says not answering Dicks question looking out the window, "That billionaire, Bruce Wayne, he raised you?"

"Yeah," Dick answers taking a quick glance back at Love who was sleeping but really just had her eyes closed being able to listen to every word

"Must've been cool," Rachel smiles glad to know something new and cool about the guy who was trying to keep her safe

"It was complicated," Dick breaths out knowing the first word to describe his childhood with Bruce Wayne isn't cool

A comfortable silence falls upon the car ride but soon Rachel asks, "Does it ever go away?"

"What?" Dick asks his eyes on the road as they were no longer on an empty road

"The feeling you got left behind," Rachel explains hoping he could understand as he was also an orphan

"Yeah," Dick answers both Rachel and Love cling on to his answer, but he changes it, "Well, no, not entirely"

Rachel decides to look out the window when asking, "You're gonna leave me, too, aren't you?"

"No," Dick replies before turning to look at her not changing his answer, "No, I'm not gonna do that"

While the answer should have been reassuring it made Rachel nervous and she did her best to hide her nerves during the whole ride.

When they arrive to Washington, District of Columbia the weather had changed, and they were able to feel the sun through the car's windows.
