Sometimes it's in the greatest times of need where you find out who the real and fake people are in your life. Such as the people who show up at your door because you texted and asked if they wanted to come but they decided to spend the night because they knew you were sad.
It's in the greatest moments of need where you find out who really loves you and who's just there for fun.
Jeongin was losing hope and fast. As he lay there with a heavy heart in his dark, quiet living room with Minho, jisung and hyunjin around him he realized that chan and him were going to start drifting apart like they were already starting to. No matter how hard he was willing to fight, it wasn't worth fighting for if chan wasn't willing to fight as well. Which clearly he wasn't.
Jeongin rolled over to his best friend who was turned the opposite way and snuggled his face into his back, hiding away from his sadness. The smell of jisungs laundry detergent giving him a form of comfort and reassurance.
Was he over reacting? Did he even have a right to feel so left behind?
"What's wrong..?" Jisung whispered as he turned to pull out of minhos grasp and move into jeongins.
"Chan hasn't texted me back yet but I promised him we'd hang out tonight," The boy wrapped his arms around his friends waist and moved even closer.
"It's midnight, babe.. If he hasn't texted back by now he's probably not going to. Maybe he was just too tired after work that he came home and fell asleep."
"I just hope he's okay.." Jeongin said defeated.
"Im sure he is. Try and get some sleep okay?" Jisung tried to calm the boy but in reality he knew that jeongin was right. He knew that he would feel the same as jeongin if minho said one thing and did another.
"...Will you talk to me until I fall asleep?" He whispered soft enough so he didn't wake up the other boys.
A hum came from jisungs throat as he thought of a story to tell jeongin.
"Remember when we used to sleep on your trampoline during the summer in middle school and your parents would always get so mad at us because we would be jumping on it at three in the morning when we were supposed to be sleeping?"
Jeongin chuckled because it was true. Whenever they saw the lights flick on in the kitchen they laid down and pretended to be asleep.
"Even though it was summer," Jisung continued "it would always get so cold and when we'd wake up, we'd be under the blankets and cuddled as close as possible to each other,"
Remembering these times was nostalgic yet sad. It made jeongin really miss being young and he felt as if he'd grown up so much in the past years.
"I still remember waking up and seeing your sleeping face and smiling because you were shivering and scrunched into a ball."
They both felt that same sadness come through this story. It was when life was simpler and less worry filled. It was when everything was always okay no matter what happened.
"We never do that anymore..." Jeongin said sadly. They never really spent the time together that they used to now that they had significant others.
"We will one night, with all of us here it will be so fun.."
They went quiet for a moment as they adjusted the blankets over them. It was quiet in the room other than minhos soft snoring and slight sleep talking.
"I miss you, jisung.."
"I'm right here, innie"
"I know but I still miss you.." Jeongin whispered softly.
This made jisungs heart hurt. It made the boy feel like he wasn't doing his part as a friend. As a best friend.
"...Im sorry, jeongin. I'm still your friend, I really am. I wouldn't just let you go like that,"
"I know.." Jeongin wrapped all of his limbs around jisung and held him as tight as he possibly could "I love you,"
"I love you too, jeongin" The friend said without any hesitation.
Jeongin began to drift of to sleep with the memories of jumping on the trampoline with jisung stuck in his head. It almost made the boy cry just at the simple fact that they were so old now. The fact that they'd never get to be kids again and they were soon to be starting their senior year of high school without another loom back.
Growing up scared jeongin. All he wanted to do was stay a teenager and just be carefree the rest of his life. It terrified him but somehow that all seemed to fade when he was with chan. It all seemed to be so silly when they talked about their future together.
Just as jeongin was almost asleep his phone vibrated a few times and he pulled away from jisung to look at the notifications.
Channie<3:
Work ran later than we
thought.. I hope you
didn't wait up for me. I'll
come by in the morning
and bring you some breakfast.
I love you jeongin. I'm sorry
that I didn't come over.
Seen just now
"Is it chan?" Jisungs sleepy voice asked from beside him.
"Yeah.." Jeongin whispered sadly and read the message one more time to make sure he didn't miss anything.
Innie:
It's okay hyung.
Just sleep well and
I'll see you tomorrow. I
love you too!
Delivered just now
Jeongin set his phone down and sighed as he adjusted himself back against jisung. He listened to the quiet living room wishing it was morning already so chan could be here.
"It will be okay innie," Jisung whispered after they both settled again.
"I hope it will," Jeongin whispered softly "I love him a lot.."
"Chan is a good boyfriend and he won't leave you,"
Those words resonated in the silence of the dark room until Minho began sleep talking again
"Chans a bitch.." Was the only audible thing that came out of his whole sentence making all three boys laugh including hyunjin who had really been awake the whole time.
"You're awake?" Jisung lifted his head as hyunjin turned around to look at them.
"Yeah i have been the whole time. I'm too awake to fall asleep,"
Jeongin turned on his back.
"Come cuddle with us!"
They weren't even trying to be quiet anymore as they all started cuddling each other with small giggles as they adjusted the blanket.
"Wait! We should draw on Minhos face!" Jeongin sat up and scared both boys simultaneously.
"He will kick all of your asses when he finds out who's idea it was," Jisung sat up along with hyunjin and they all shrugged and went to get some magic markers.
They all began drawing on Minhos face with hyunjin drawing some kind of weird mustaches and jeongin drawing fake makeup and jisung drawing what jisung would draw. A dick. Right across his forehead.
This left all of the boys giggling hysterically and shaking with laughter as they continued to draw.
